WWE Latest News: Daniel Bryan Admits To Hiding Post-Concussion Seizures; RAW Numbers On Bryan's Retirement Episode Revealed

Newly retired World Wrestling Entertainment superstar Daniel Bryan recently spoke up about the severity of his injuries that eventually led him to walk away from professional wrestling for good.

The 34-year-old Bryan made his retirement official during the February 8th episode of Monday Night RAW, after announcing it on Twitter the day prior. Having been in active competition since 1999, the former WWE and World heavyweight champion suffered many injuries along the way.

His last in-ring appearance happened in May 2015. After which, he announced that he would be taking a hiatus due to an undisclosed injury, which was later revealed to be a "concussion-related" one.

In an interview with ESPN's Jonathan Coachman, Bryan said they had documented a total of 10 concussions. He then revealed that upon having an electroencephalogram (EEG) test done in New York City, medical experts found a chronic lesion in the temporal parietal region of his brain which could cause some seizures.

"One of the things that's been hard about this is I have had post-concussion seizures that I've hid for a long time," Bryan explained. "There was never any evidence to see why I would have these seizures but then we finally found some."

Bryan's retirement was met with strong reactions from both fans and his fellow wrestlers. So much so that this past Monday's RAW episode, when he made his announcement, saw a significant rise in viewership, compared to the past week's.

In a report by Geno Mrosko for Cageside Seats, the said episode garnered a total of 3.72 million views, compared to the February 1st episode featuring Brock Lesnar, which only obtained 3.38 million views.

As far as the hourly breakdown goes, the first and second hours of this week's show garnered 3.90 million viewers apiece. The third round did show a significant drop, garnering a total of 3.36 million viewers.
