WWE Latest News: Finn Balor Injures Ankle During NXT Event; Daniel Bryan Announces Retirement

World Wrestling Entertainment superstar Finn Balor recently suffered an ankle injury during a recent NXT event.

In a report by Geno Mrosko for Cageside Seats, the 34-year-old professional wrestler (whose name is Fergal Devitt in real life) sustained the said injury during the February 5th NXT show in Nashville, Tennessee.

Balor was believed to have twisted his ankle while attempting a springboard Coup de Grace on Samoa Joe, according to another Cageside Seats report by Sean Rueter. Because of the injury, Balor was forced out of the WWE's February 6th house show in Indianapolis.

Balor was tested on Monday to see the severity of his injury. And in an update report by Ryan Droste for WhatCulture, his injury seems to be a sprain and he will likely be out for several weeks. Should he be able to make an immediate recovery, Balor will be part of NXT's big TakeOver event in Dallas, which will take place on April 1, during the weekend of WrestleMania 32, which takes place April 3.

Meanwhile, former WWE champion and World Heavyweight champion Daniel Bryan recently announced his retirement from professional wrestling.

According to the company's official website, the 34-year-old Bryan (Bryan Lloyd Danielson in real life) announced his retirement through Twitter, citing "medical reasons" as the main issue.

For the last two years, Bryan has been plagued by several injuries that have subsequently sidelined him a few times. In 2014, Bryan won the WWE World Heavyweight championship by defeating Randy Orton and Batista at WrestleMania 30.

However, he was forced to vacate the title after suffering a neck injury, which required for him to have surgery and be out of action.

Bryan did make a return in 2015, where he won the WWE Intercontinental title at WrestleMania 31. However, he was once again forced to drop his title after sustaining a then undisclosed injury.

It was later revealed that Bryan's injury was "concussion-related."
