WWE Rumors 2017: Jon Cena Not Starring in DC Film; Who Will Play Sister Abigail?

Cena has long been rumored as the front-runner to play the DC Comics superhero, Shazam! in the planned live-action movie, but new reports suggest otherwise.

Professional wrestling news website PWInsider has allegedly learned that he will not be taking the said role in the DC film. According to the publication, a reliable source has revealed that the WWE superstar did meet up with director David F. Sandberg, who has been tapped to helm the film, last month, but he is apparently not one of the final names considered for the role.

Shazam! is the superhero alter ego of a teenage boy named Billy Batson. He received his powers from a wizard of the same name, which turns him into an adult superhero when he shouts the word "Shazam!"

Cena has previously starred in various films, just like "The Marine," "Legendary," "Daddy's Home," and "The Wall."

Meanwhile, it was recently revealed that Sister Abigail is alive, despite the announcement earlier this year that she was dead and will not debut in WWE.

Following the revelation, speculations on who is going to play the part started.

American professional wrestler Bryan Alvarez initially speculated that it could be Paige, but it may be unlikely because she is already quite popular in WWE. Journalist Dave Meltzer, on the other hand, thinks that it could either be as NXT female wrestler or somebody the fans already know.

"Who's new? Everybody's either been in the Mae Young Classic or on TV. I don't think they have anybody. Like even, there's nobody new," he reportedly said on Wrestling Observer Radio.

There are also speculations that Sage Beckett, who recently signed to WWE NXT, could be Sister Abigail. This stemmed from a cryptic tweet she sent out this week, which could hint her possible involvement in the highly anticipated Sister Abigail storyline.

As all these are just rumors, for now, fans are encouraged to wait for confirmation and official announcements from WWE.
