WWE Rumors: Should John Cena vs. Rusev Feud Happen Again? Here Is Our Take

The said fight would once again see the "Goody Two-Shoes" character of The Champ going up against the "evil Russian antagonist," Rusev.

WWE may have struck gold with Rusev, who on "Monday Night Raw," asserted his dominance over Kalisto, his upcoming opponent in "Extreme Rules." Although the night ended tragically for Kalisto who now suffered a serious back injury after, The Big Guy did an Accolade submission maneuver.

The official WWE confirmed that the U.S. Champion won't be able to compete on this week's SmackDown due to a "strained intercostal muscle and erectus spinae muscle." Regardless, the game is still on as Kalisto will still defend his US title against the much bigger Rusev in this Sunday night's match-up.

Forbes speculated that the U.S. Championship belt will likely to be strapped on The Bulgarian Brute, given his opponent's injury and the "shaky booking" of Kalisto as the current champion. If this scenario pulls through, this would lead him back to the road where he gets to clash once again with John Cena.

Cena will reportedly return to "WWE Monday Night Raw" towards the end of the month, and it's a high time to amp up the hype for a John Cena vs. Rusev match-up.

The last time they faced each other was in WrestleMania 31, where the network raked in 1.326 million pay-per-view buys. The figure was up from the significantly lower viewership in WrestleMania 30, according to Wrestle Zone.

Forbes added that the said fight would once again see the "Goody Two-Shoes" character of The Champ going up against the "evil Russian antagonist," Rusev.

But before this happen, there's still a lot of things that The Super Athlete has to do. One of which is to win the US/ Championship in a way he did before. This would eventually make him a worthy opponent for Cena, who had just returned after his injuries. Stay tuned for more updates.
