WWE Rumors: This Year's 'Survivor Series' May Feature an Interesting Inter-Promotional Main Event

The 'RAW' vs. 'SmackDown Live' theme may again be featured for this year's edition of the 'Survivor Series'

The "Survivor Series" is one of the WWE's "Big Four" events, and this year's edition of the pay-per-view could feature one highly intriguing encounter.

A recent report from F4WOnline noted that one of the headline matches for the PPV could pit one champion against another. To be more specific, the event may include a match featuring the current WWE Universal Champion going up against the reigning WWE Champion.

As things stand right now, that would mean that the match will be Brock Lesnar vs. Jinder Mahal.

Lesnar has managed to defend his Universal Championship successfully against the likes of Samoa Joe, Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman, establishing himself as "Monday Night RAW's" top wrestler.

Meanwhile, Mahal has enjoyed a place atop "SmackDown Live's" hierarchy after managing to win the WWE title from Randy Orton and then defending it most recently against Shinsuke Nakamura.

Both Lesnar and Mahal have been on incredible tears in recent months, and while wrestling fans may not be completely supportive of their title reigns, the two wrestlers have clearly been positioned as the top guys for their respective brands.

It is worth noting that the rumored Lesnar vs. Mahal "Champion vs. Champion" clash is not expected to feature either title on the line, so it may be depicted more as a battle for brand supremacy.

Interestingly enough, it seems like this will be the second year in a row in which the "Survivor Series" will feature the "RAW" vs. "SmackDown Live" theme.

Last year's edition of the "Survivor Series" included different Team RAW vs. Team SmackDown Live matches. Currently, it remains unclear if the rumored Lesnar vs. Mahal match will be the only inter-promotional encounter or if others will soon be confirmed for the card.

The 2017 edition of the "Survivor Series" will take place at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas, on Nov. 19.
