CM Punk WWE News 2014: Wrestler Joins UFC - 'I'm Going to Be Full Systems Go'

After so many speculations about what happens to CM Punk's WWE career, recent news broke out this weekend stating that the former pro-wrestler will now be trading punches and kicks inside the Octagon.

According to ESPN, the UFC has signed Phil Brooks, famously known as CM Punk, as the new addition to the federation. The promotion was announced after Punk's meeting with UFC President Dana White during its live UFC 181 pay-per-view broadcast on Saturday night.

With the help of mainstay announcer Joe Rogan, Punk revealed that he has never fought professional mixed martial arts and that this would be "new career" for him to tread on.

"This is my new career, 100 percent," CM Punk said in a statement. "I'm going to go full steam ahead, all systems go after today, and it's going to be fun."

"My professional wrestling days are over, it's awesome to be here," he went on to say. "This is something I've wanted to do for a long time.

As further stated by the sports publication, Dana White said that he intended for the 36-year-old WWE Champion to fight at middleweight (185 lbs.) division, but Punk said that he could go for a 170 pound bout.

"He wanted to fight here," White was quoted as saying. "He wanted to give it a shot, so we gave him an opportunity."

"[CM Punk] is going to fight a guy who is 1-0, 1-1, 2-1 -- something like that," he said moreover.

Later this weekend, UFC took to their social media to further broadcast Punk's UFC signing which he will debut in 2015.

"Welcome to the UFC @CMPunk! See you in 2015!" reads the post from the official Twitter account of UFC.
