'X-Files' Revival News, Update: Gillian Anderson Feels A Bit 'Strange' Coming Back as Dana Scully
The Internet was thrown into a hype as a slew of images pointing out to the filming of the "X-Files" revival series went online. According to reports, production for the FOX miniseries event began June 8th in Vancouver.
The new set of photos teased what appears to be the working relationship that David Duchovny's Fox Mulder has with Gillian Anderson's Dana Scully in the new instalment.
Anderson admited feeling a bit strange stepping back intp the shoes of the FBI special agent.
"It feels like it's been a long time since I've played her. I can't remember what year the movie was, but it felt like [Scully] was further away from me than I'd thought she would be. But I've also worked really hard at putting her entirely to sleep, so that was successful; she's just taken longer to wake up," the actress told TV Line.
"It's strange to be back here. This is a lot of flashbacks, a lot of deja vu, a lot of remembering dynamics — and it's … a thicker substance to wade through than I'd thought," she went on to say.
When probed further about the character, Anderson said that "[Scully's] older! She aged!"
She described the upcoming premiere of the cult-classic TV drama series in three words.
"Slow … Intense … And it's setting groundwork, so it's got a particular role to play. It does exactly what it needs to do. What's a single word for fulfilling that requirement? Functional? Appropriate? Functional works. Slow, intense and functional!" Anderson said.
The new "X-Files" is slated to return to Fox on Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016.
