Sources for the publication claim that although the official test offers have not been rolled out to any actors yet, Moretz and Fanning, have already met with Singer to "discuss the role over the past few weeks."

Despite the mentioned names, there's still "plenty of others that are under consideration" for the role. Whoever is chosen to be the young Jean Grey is "expected to recur in future X-Men films," the insider added.

The first X-Men trilogy featured Famke Janssen and James Marsden as the older Jean Grey and Cyclops, respectively.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" is expected to hit the theaters on May 27th of 2016 under the direction of Bryan Singer.
