'X-Men Apocalypse' Movie Rumors, News: Tom Hardy 'Closed to Signing On' a Villain Role, Nicholas Hoult Talks Film

Tom Hardy, known for his role as Bane in DC Comics' "The Dark Knight Rises," is recently in the rumor mills for having an upcoming role in the next X-men movie sequel directed by Bryan Singer.

According to The Wrap, the British actor is currently being "courted" for the role of Apocalypse. Meanwhile, he is also reported to appear for Warner Bros.' upcoming film "Suicide Squad."

In fact, IGN cited Deadline saying that the "Warrior" star is now "close to signing on" for David Ayer's film project. If this be so, then he will act alongside Will Smith and Margot Robbie.

Both movies are reported to start film production next year and are slated to hit the theaters sometime in 2016.

ComicBook.com stated in their article that joining the MCU in Apocalypse is "more likely to be a one-and-done affair" only for the actor. As with "Suicide Squad," Hardy is more likely to sign a "multi-film contract."

Meanwhile, Nicholas Hoult, who played Beast in the previous "X-Men: Days of Future Past" spoke with MTV News to shed some light into the rumors concerning "some juicy scenes shot" with real-life ex, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique.

"There were another couple of scenes which got cut, because they didn't work technically in terms of the geography of how the movie played out in the end," the 24-year-old actor said. "Why [Mystique and Beast] would be here — when the world is about to end — and then we've nipped home quickly to have a good night's sleep. Everyone was like, 'well, we can't really do that.' So there were a couple of extra scenes which got cut, unfortunately."

But fans of the mutant franchise can still remain hopeful to witness the relationship between the two manifested as "X-Men: Apocalypse" "might pay more attention to that unfortunately neglected relationship."

"I think they'll try and figure out a way to develop it more in the next one," Hoult concluded.
