Xbox Games with Gold April 2017 Free Games List: 'The Walking Dead: Season Two,' 'Darksiders' and More

A new month is about to start and for subscribers of the Xbox Games with Gold program, it means that there will be a new batch of free games to get a load of.

Greeting Xbox One-rocking members of the promotion is a free download of the 2013 action-adventure hack-and-slash game, "Ryse: Son of Rome."

Available for free for the whole month of April, this Xbox Games with Gold freebie will allow players take on the role of soldier Marius Titus as he "embarks on a perilous campaign to avenge the death of your family and defends the honor of Rome."

By April 16, Xbox One players with Xbox Games with Gold subscription can grab the 2013 episodic interactive drama graphic adventure game, "The Walking Dead: Season 2."

The game, which will be available to download for free up to May 15, continues the story of Clementine, who is left to fend for herself in the harsh world produced by the undead apocalypse.

In this Xbox Games with Gold freebie, the protagonist will "meet new survivors, explore new locations and make gruesome decisions in this five-part game series of choice and consequence."

For Xbox Games with Gold members who hold on to their Xbox 360 console, they will have a couple of free games to check out this April.

During the first half of the month, they will get to experience without shelling a cent the action role-playing hack-and-slash video game, "Darksiders," in which they will be thrust into a bloodbath of a war between Heaven and Hell.

Starting April 16, Xbox Games with Gold subscribers will be able to download the 2011 action-adventure video game by Ubisoft, "Assassin's Creed Revelations" for a new adventure with master assassin Ezio Auditore as he follows the footsteps of his mentor Altair.

While waiting for these titles, Xbox Games with Gold members should make sure to download "Evolve Ultimate Edition" (available up to April 15) for their Xbox One and "Heavy Weapon" (available up to March 31) for Xbox 360.
