Xbox 'Games with Gold' March 2017 Games: Microsoft Confirms 'Layers of Fear' and 'Borderlands 2' Among Others

Members of the Xbox Live 'Games with Gold' program will get four new games in March this year - with all of them playable on the Xbox One through the Xbox Backwards Compatibility Program.

First on the list is the psychological horror video game "Layers of Fear" which will be available for the whole month of March. Second is the co-op shooting game, "Evolve Ultimate Edition" which is already a free-to-play title for the PC but will now be available for free starting March 16 until April 15 only. Both these games can be played on the Xbox One.

Xbox 360 games "Borderlands 2" and "Heavy Weapon" are also confirmed to be part of the Xbox Live 'Games with Gold' program for March. Both are now also playable on Xbox One through the Xbox Backwards Compatibility Program.

"Borderlands 2" will be available from March 1 to 15, while "Heavy Weapon" can be availed of from March 16 to 31.

As of the moment, Xbox 'Games with Gold' members can still enjoy "Star Wars: The Force Unleashed" and "Lovers In A Dangerous Spacetime" until Tuesday, Feb. 28, while "Project Cars: Digital Edition" will be available until March 15.

In other news, Microsoft's top competitor, Sony, has not yet unveiled an official lineup for its PlayStation Plus program for March, although many speculate that it might include "Killzone: Shadow Fall" and "Fat Princess Adventures," among others.

The Xbox 'Games with Gold' program offers different pre-selected games each month that are playable for free.

To be an eligible member, subscription costs $9.99 per month or $59.99 for a one-year subscription.

Each free game will expire by the end of its given timeframe, but players can still opt to purchase a particular game from the Xbox Store anytime, with their game progress saved and kept intact.

In other news, Xbox enthusiasts are gearing up for the Electronic Entertainment Expo event this coming June since Microsoft is set to unveil the new Xbox Project Scorpio during its keynote briefing, already scheduled for June 11.
