Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Game List Expanded With December Update

Almost a month ago, Microsoft announced that they were making games that were originally playable only on the older generation Xbox 360 to also be playable on the current generation Xbox One. Last November 12, the company introduced the backwards compatibility program, which included an initial list of 104 Xbox 360 games that are now playable on the Xbox One.

According to a report in Tech Times, the program has so far been successful as many players began to take to the idea of playing their favorite Xbox 360 games on their Xbox One. As there are many games in the Xbox 360 library, Microsoft also promised that they will add more games to the list in the coming months, on a monthly basis.

This December, the company was true to its promise when it announced the addition of 16 more games to the 104 games in the list. These include classics such as "Zuma's Revenge!" and "MS. PAC-MAN" as well as current favorites like "Deus Ex: Human Revolution,""Halo: Reach," and "Fable III." The full list of the 16 games is included in the report.

Notably, the list has some titles that are absent such as "Mass Effect 2," "Call of Duty," and "Just Cause." But given that Microsoft seems to be serious about making this program work, these and more games may be included in updates in the coming months. According to an IGN report, among the games that are confirmed to be part of the program are "Halo Wars," "Call of Duty: Black Ops," the "BioShock" game series and "Skate 3." A complete list of the games included so far are included in the IGN report.

Xbox One users may access the program via their Xbox Live accounts. Backwards compatible titles may also be availed by buying the latest installment of the series, where older games in the series are included as freebies. Xbox Live Gold members who also get Games with Gold titles will also be able to play these games as they are backwards compatible as well.
