Xbox One Zebra Prototype Rumors: Leaked Screenshots for Real?

Rumors have emerged Microsoft has plans to release a black and white Xbox One platform with supposed leaked images of the console reportedly sporting zebra stripes.

With the eight console cycle currently occurring across all gaming platform brands, Microsoft has started rumors buzzing they will be releasing a new Xbox One that features black and white zebra stripes.

What is presumed to be leaked images of the prototype emerged online, and reports surfaced its black and white design isn't for aesthetic purposes alone. According to information received, the company intends for each zebra-striped console design to be algorithmically generated to act as each unit's unique QR code-like key identifier, sans an actual serial number, as is traditionally done with other gaming platforms and devices across brands.

The buzz generated by the sleek geometric design finish of what is assumed to be the next-gen Xbox One zebra prototype has taken the Internet by storm, however the authenticity of the images have yet to be confirmed by Microsoft.

The images were posted online by mamayer21, a Reddit user who also leaked images of the zebra prototype's controller, a smaller sized Kinect, power cables, and a Windows 8-like settings page. Other rumors have also emerged the zebra prototype is for sale, but no sales or online ad has been found to match the description.

According to gaming insiders, the zebra console may be a version of an Xbox One prototype, but not one that Microsoft is likely to release to consumers. One speculation is the console in the leaked images may be a kit Microsoft developers may be using for testing and development purposes.
