Xiaomi's Next Phablet to be Dubbed as Max, Rumored with 6.4-Inch Display, Fingerprint Sensor and Snapdragon 820

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi is going to give its fans a new phablet soon and the name has been decided by the public. According to a report by GSM Arena, Xiaomi conducted a poll in their Weibo website to decide on the name of their next device. They gave out four options which included Xiaomi Pro, Xiaomi Plus, Xiaomi Big and Xiaomi Max. Many voted for the name Xiaomi Max which garnered 51.62% of the votes while Xiaomi Big came in second.

Apart from the name, not much is known about what the phablet will come with but BGR reported that the handset is likely to come with a 6.4-inch QHD display. If the specification is true, the Xiaomi Max will be bigger than last year's Mi Note phablet which sports a 5.9-inch display. It will also be the biggest one in the company's line of smartphones.

Gizmo Times also reported that there are images that have leaked and it shows that the front panel of the device is huge with very thin bezels. It's also seen that there are three capacitive buttons found on the bottom. There is no home button though so a fingerprint scanner is expected at the back. International Business Times also stated that the top panel carries an opening for the front camera and for the proximity light sensor. In between the two is the speaker grill.

Mobile Computing Today also noted that there are speculations indicating that the upcoming device will be sporting a metal body design. And then under its hood, rumors say that it may be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core processor, which may also be the same thing that will be incorporated into the Mi Note 2. None is confirmed though so it's best to take reports with a pinch of salt.

As to when the Xiaomi Max may come out, rumors claim that it will be launched sometime this May. It's also still to be known if Xiaomi will release it to China alone or launch it to other places.
