Yarnell Named New President of Louisiana College
Louisiana College officials announced Malcom Yarnell, an assistant dean at a Texas Baptist Seminary, as the next president of Louisiana College.
Yarnell was offered the five-year position on Friday after the announcement which was made at news conference on campus.
"My wife, Karen, and I have dedicated ourselves to fulfilling Gods call on our lives wherever and whenever He sees fit," Yarnell said in a statement on Louisiana College's Web site.
"I anticipate a bright future for this Louisiana Baptist Christian liberal arts college," said Yarnell. "The trustees have an innovative vision for the school which combines orthodox theology with academic excellence, and I fully support that vision."
Yarnell has experience as a pastor, instructor, administrator and businessman. The board members believes that Yarnell will strengthen the school¡¯s ties to traditional Baptist values.
Recently, the college¡¯s trustees strengthened their control over faculty hiring and instructors¡¯ reading lists. A considerable number of top officials have left the college pressured until new policies which requires new hires to submit a written ¡°worldview,¡± and faculty to submit all academic materials for approval.
