The youth of America will present a petition to movie executives in Hollywood, Calif. pleading for cleaner movies on August 4, 2005.

The petition was drafted by a teen member of the Youth Advisory Council of the Abstinence Clearinghouse.

Now signed by over 30,000 teens, between 13 and 18 years of age, the petition was first drafted by fifty-six teenagers representing all 50 states and two European countries.

The petition reveals their disappointment in Hollywood's lies.

"What you've shown us isn't real. The glorified sex we see in movies doesn't match our experiences. We never see the teenage beauty queen getting STDs from her boyfriend."

"Lots of us have broken hearts from trying sex before marriage and realizing it wasn't true love and it didn't fill our desire for intimacy."

With deep sentiment, the petition tells the industry's moguls that the images and stories make a real impact on their minds and futures.

"We don't walk away from movies merely amused. We walk away with images in our minds, dreams in our hearts, and expectations for our future," the petition states.

"That's why we're upset."

"It's riveting," said Leslee Unruh, Founder and President of National Abstinence Clearinghouse. "There's nothing anybody could argue with. It's really from their hearts."

More than 40 percent of American girls become pregnant at least once by age 20, according to Centers for Disease Control, and the Heritage Foundation found sexually active teens are significantly more likely to feel depressed than those who are not.

"All we ask for is the truth," it states. "We, the youth of America, simply ask for a movie industry that will teach us about a lifestyle that brings happy endings in real life."

"Our future is in your hands," it emphasized.

The petition places more pressure on the industry that is scrambling to reverse falling profits, which many say is due to the American sentiment for cleaner movies, and it can't be ignored.

"All the people show that they want wholesome programming, but Hollywood continues to give us trash," said Unruh.

The first-time petition is part of the ninth annual International Abstinence Leadership Conference, hosted by the Abstinence Clearinghouse Aug. 3-6 at Hollywood's Renaissance Hotel. Over one thousand abstinence educators, parents and teens will gather in to learn about advances in abstinence education and create change.
