Yu Yutopia News: Is It Really The 'Most Powerful Phone On The Planet'?

A new entrant in the smartphone industry, a company called Yu, has officially released what it claims to be the "most powerful phone on the planet." The flagship phone is called Yutopia and it is manufactured by Yu, a company that is partly owned by Indian company Micromax. According to a report in Tech Times, the phone has been officially launched and is only available on the Amazon India e-commerce site.

According to the company's description of the new device, it is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset paired with 4 GB of RAM. Internal storage is at 32 GB. Its screen is a 5.2-inch display with quad HD resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels. The screen is also protected by Corning Concore Glass.

Out of the box, it will come pre-installed with Cyanogen OS 12.1 which is said to be based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. According to the company, this OS will give the user "unparalleled control" over their smartphone, because "Customization is the very heart of the Cyanogen experience. More freedom and more choices - from the big picture down to the smallest details. Customize everything."

In terms of battery power, a 3,000 mAh capacity battery is on board. The device's cameras are a powerful 21 megapixel rear facing camera, which has an Exmor RS IMX230 sensor, while the front facing camera is an 8 megapixel one, which has an OV8865 BSI-2 sensor and f/2.2 aperture. Other sensors available on the device include a fingerprint sensor, an L-sensor, a G-sensor, a Hall Sensor, barometer, electronic compass and a 6-axis Gyroscope.

According to another report in Engadget, the phone's new specifications are not exactly promising for a phone that claims to be the "most powerful phone on the planet." The specs are the same as the specs of other smartphones that have been released already.

The handset, because of its aircraft grade aluminium build, makes it a stronger smartphone than the other phones available in the market. According to the company, the Yutopia is "90 percent stronger than the polycarbonate/sandpaper heroes of the smartphone world, making it a phone you would not want to mess with."

One clear advantage of the Yu Yutopia is its price. For its high-end specs, it will sell for only 24,999 rupees or around $377 without a contract.
