    Colorado Springs pastor Ted Haggard is done with the dark auditoriums, smoke machines, emotional hype and the dry professional preachers.

    "Simple and easy" are the two key words he's going by as he builds his new church, he told The Christian Post.

    St. James Church is only eight weeks old but has already grown to about 350 people, according to The Gazette. Haggard, former president of the National Association of Evangelicals, moved the church out of his barn to a room at Pikes Peak Center this past Sunday. more >>

  • Haggard to Move Church Out of Barn

    Just a month after launching his new church in a barn next to his home, Ted Haggard plans to move services to a bigger venue to accommodate growing attendance.

    St. James Church in Colorado Springs has grown from some 160 to about 245 people, according to The Gazette.

    The former megachurch pastor told the local newspaper that he will be moving services to a room at Pikes Peak Center on July 25. more >>

    Nearly four years after being fired from his previous church, Ted Haggard returned to the pulpit on Sunday as a "changed" man and with a new church.

    Some 160 people gathered in a barn next to Haggard's home in Colorado Springs, for the first service of St. James Church, according to The Gazette.

    Ted Haggard, the evangelical leader who fell from grace after a gay sex scandal in 2006, announced on Wednesday that he will start a new church in Colorado Springs.

    With his wife, Gayle, and three of his sons by his side, Haggard told reporters that the St. James Church that he incorporated three weeks ago will soon be an active church.

    Initially, Haggard said he incorporated St. James for accounting purposes to organize payments he and his wife receive from talks at churches. He explained that they pay for their own traveling expenses and St. James would help organize reimbursements. more >>

  • Colo. Gets Another Shot at Banning Abortion

    Two years after a failed attempt to end abortion in Colorado, a state pro-life group has another shot at the ballot.

    The secretary of state confirmed on Friday that Colorado-based Personhood USA submitted enough signatures to put an amendment that would protect the preborn to a statewide vote this fall.
