• SBA List: Billboard Did Not Lie About Former Congressman's Pro-Life Record

By Stephanie Samuel on October 27,2011

Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser said her pro-life organization did not maliciously seek to malign ousted Democratic Congressman Steve Driehaus’ record on Obamacare during the 2010 mid-term election. Rather, she said, Driehaus got burned trying to play both sides of what she says is an either/or issue.

SBA List is anxiously awaiting a ruling to its appeal of an Aug. 1 verdict allowing Driehaus to pursue a defamation lawsuit.

In a telephone interview with The Christian Post, Dannenfelser denied having lied maliciously or recklessly disregarded the facts despite an August ruling giving Driehaus grounds to pursue a defamation lawsuit against the pro-life agency. more >>

  • Supreme Court Rejects Ohio Judge's Ten Commandments Appeal

By Eryn Sun on October 04,2011

After a three-month recess, the Supreme Court returned on Monday to start a new term, rejecting hundreds of cases, including an appeal by an Ohio judge who wanted to display a poster of the Ten Commandments in his courtroom.

The justices let stand the ruling passed down by the lower courts that the religious document hanging in Richard County Common Pleas Judge James DeWeese’s courtroom violated the First Amendment Establishment Clause of the constitution as well as the Ohio constitution.

The poster in question is titled “Philosophies of Law in Conflict,” which outlines conflicts between different legal philosophies, presented in two columns labeled “Moral Absolutes” and “Moral Relatives.” Under the Moral Absolutes column, a text of the Ten Commandments is displayed while the Moral Relatives column is followed by what DeWeese calls “humanist precepts,” according to the lawsuit filed by the American Civil Liberties Union of Ohio. more >>

By Anugrah Kumar on September 18,2011

A 50-foot-high statue of Jesus is being rebuilt outside a megachurch in southwest Ohio to replace the iconic sculpture that burned down after being struck by lightning last year.

The steel framework for the new statue went up Friday outside Solid Rock Church along Interstate 75 in Monroe to replace the original, 62-foot statue, according to Cincinnati.com.

The original “King of Kings” statue, popularly known as “Touchdown Jesus” because it appeared to rise mid-waist from the pond with hands stretched overhead, will be replaced with a 50-foot but full-body sculpture of Christ. more >>
