• 'Sex Not X-Rated, But God Created,' Says 'Sexperiment Pastor

By Ravelle Mohammed on January 14,2012

“Sexperiment” Pastor Ed Young and wife, Lisa, have spent 24 hours on their Grapevine, Texas church roof – in bed – an initiative to bring “the bed back into the church.” According to the couple, the live-streamed event from Fellowship Church was a push for marital peace, with Young emphasizing that “sex is not ‘x’ rated, it’s God created.”

The couple's book, Sexperiment: 7 Days to Lasting Intimacy with Your Spouse, was released Jan. 10 and is about understanding and healing. Sexperiment also deals with intimacy and sex, challenging “everyone to understand that God wants us to begin a sexual revolution,” the Youngs shared Friday.

“It’s vital that we put on relational sunblock. We have to expose ourselves to the right relationships,” Pastor Young stated. “Even in marriage. If we don’t block out those harmful rays we could get relational melanoma.” more >>

  • Texas School District Refunds 'Illegal Charges' to Christian Club

By Eryn Sun on January 04,2012

A Texas school district refunded hundreds of dollars back to Child Evangelism Fellowship’s Good News Club after the Liberty Counsel discovered they were overcharging the organization with higher-than-normal fees.

The Midlothian Independent School District, accused of violating the First Amendment, agreed to give CEF a discounted rate for use of the school’s facilities after initially denying the group a fee waiver.

The Liberty Counsel pointed out that CEF should be entitled to lower fees because they met goals outlined in the Texas Education Code. School policy allowed any youth-oriented, character building groups like the Boy Scouts a waiver of facility fees, only charging them for use of utilities. more >>

  • 5,000 Christians Attend Rally to Support Nativity at Texas Courthouse

By Napp Nazworth on December 18,2011

An estimated 5,000 people showed up for a rally Saturday in Athens, Texas, to support a Nativity display in opposition to an atheist group that had requested the county remove the display.

Nathan Lorick, pastor of First Baptist Church in Malakoff, one of four pastors that helped organize the rally, said in a Sunday interview with The Christian Post that they had hoped that 2,000 or 2,500 would show up. They printed 3,000 flyers for the event, but came up 2,000 short.

“We hoped this would be a statement across the nation that would resonate in the hearts of people, that they would know it's OK to stand up for the faith,” Lorick said, “and maybe that this would spark a movement across the nation and people would rise up in every small town, every metro city and contend for the faith.” more >>

Amos the llama and donkeys named Jericho, Cain and Abel are among the animals that go with 67-year-old Pastor VonSchounmacher to churches across San Antonio as actors in live Nativity presentations in December each year.

“People can feel the essence of what it must have been like,” San Antonio Express-News quoted VonSchounmacher, the founder of MorningStar Ministries, as saying. “We try to be supportive of other ministries trying to make an impact. We’re helping to bring the real meaning of Christmas back.” more >>

  • Texas Pastor Accused of Selling Church, Taking Off Without Notice

By Katherine Weber on December 14,2011

Members of the Pure Light Missionary Baptist Church of Houston, Texas, are doing everything they can to keep the ministry afloat after their pastor sold the church, reportedly without their knowledge, and took off with the money.

Pastor Rory Murphy allegedly violated the church’s constitutional laws when he sold the church property for $125,000 without the congregation's permission.

As Pure Light's new pastor, Anthony Moten, told The Christian Post Wednesday, Murphy needed a 75 percent approval from the congregation and the church board in order to sell the church property. He received neither. more >>
