Rupert Murdoch, the chief of News Corporation at the center of the cell phone hacking scandal, had his suit splattered with shaving foam after a protester hurled a foil pie aiming for his face during a hearing with British lawmakers Tuesday followed by a call by Prime Minister David Cameron to move on to “issues that matter.”
Murdoch, the chairman and CEO of News Corp., the world’s second-largest media conglomerate in terms of revenue, escaped the brunt of the attack as a group of people including his wife Wendi Deng fought off the man who rushed forward from the public gallery two hours into the hearing session, according to BBC.
The attacker was identified as 26-year-old Jonathan May-Bowles, a member of the opposition Labour Party. Just before the incident, he tweeted under the account Jonny Marbles: “It is a far better thing that I do now than I have ever done before #splat,” which resembles a quotation from the last sentence of Charles Dickens’ A Tale of Two Cities. more >>

Richmond basically believes the Church of England as a whole is "dying off" because of the number of senior citizens attending church in comparison to younger members.
However, records from the Archbishops' Council's Research and Statistics Unit tell a different story. more >>

Church Calls for Proper Investigation After News of the World Fallout
As News of the World bid the nation “Thank you and goodbye” with its last ever edition Sunday, the Church of England has called upon its owner, News Corp, to undertake a proper investigation into phone hacking allegations.
In a letter to News Corp, the Church of England’s Ethical Investment Advisory Group said that the behaviour of the News of the World had been “utterly reprehensible and unethical.”
It welcomed the decision to close the paper after 168 years in print, but said this action was “not a sufficient response to the revelations of malpractice at the paper.” more >>
