Family Radio Network preacher Harold Camping, known for his failed rapture prediction, will be released from an Oakland, Calif.-area hospital where he was treated for a mild stroke, Family Radio employees said Monday.

Craig Hulsebos, radio host for several programs on Family Radio, announced during a broadcast Monday that Camping is expected to be released from the hospital today.

While some people have turned news of Harold Camping’s stroke into the latest punch line on Twitter, others have responded to the doomsday preacher's condition with sympathy, tweeting prayers for his recovery.

“I have just seen a post that HAROLD CAMPING has suffered a stroke and is in the hospital. please (sic) pray for Mr. Camping,” wrote “Shabbir_Kumar” in Twitter post that re-tweeted several times Sunday.

In another tweet on the radio preacher’s condition, one Twitter user by the name “tweetsbyscott” acknowledged Camping’s errors in predicting the Rapture would take place May 21 but went on to say that “unbiblical predictions aside, Harold deserves prayer as all of God's children.” more >>

Doomsday preacher Harold Camping is “doing very well” days after he was admitted to a hospital for a stroke, his wife said Sunday evening.

When The Christian Post visited Camping’s home in Alameda, Calif., Sunday, a woman claiming to be Camping’s wife, Shirley, answered the door but never revealed her face.

Harold Camping may have found some way to rationalize to himself why his May 21 rapture prediction did not occur but his followers, presumably now ex-followers, are still finding a way to cope with the failed forecast.

Those who follow the doomsday preaching on Family Radio truly believed that on May 21 they were going to ascend to heaven that day while the unsaved remained on earth until the final destruction of the earth on Oct. 21.

But on May 23, Camping took to the airwaves of Family Radio, where he serves as president, to adjust his prediction. He said he was mistaken that the judgment on May 21 would come in a physical way when it actually came in a spiritual sense. more >>

Countering false prophet Harold Camping, one Baptist professor says hell is a crucial part of God's final judgment on earth. Camping, according to Craig Blaising, executive vice president and provost of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, is wrong in deleting hell from the picture of the last days.

"[The final] judgment culminates in the judgment of hell for the unsaved," Blaising said.

Investigators looking into the circumstances of the death of a young man from Florida are suspecting Harold Camping’s rapture prediction and the publicity generated by the Family Radio man’s followers may have pushed him over the edge.

Victor Frasno, 25, described by investigators as very religious, was staying with family in California when he became hysterical as Harold Camping’s Judgment Day was about to arrive hours later. Despite the fact that he couldn’t swim, he jumped into the huge reservoir in Contra Loma Regional Park, Antioch saying he had to “get to God.”

Frasno’s body was recovered from the reservoir just moments before midnight as May 21st, Camping’s predicted day of rapture, was about to arrive. more >>
