  • Prominent Missiologist Identifies Biggest Trend in Global Mission

By Michelle A. Vu on July 30,2008

WHEATON, Ill. – One of the world’s top missiologists shared with thousands of missionaries on Tuesday what he considers the biggest trend in global mission at a mission conference that takes place only once in four years.

Dr. Ralph D. Winter, founder of the U.S. Center for World Mission, says the biggest trend in world mission is the polarization occurring among mission agencies that either focus exclusively on personal salvation or, in contrast, physical needs when they should be doing both.

Christians have the responsibility to not only share the Gospel and help get people into heaven, the renowned missiologist said, but also “getting God into this world” and glorifying God on Earth. more >>

  • Interview: Dr. Ralph D. Winter on Frontier Missions in India

By Michelle Vu on October 02,2007

The focus of this year’s gathering of the International Society for Frontier Missiology (ISFM) was India – a country where Christianity is the third largest religion despite the fact that Christians make up only 2.3 percent of the entire population, according to official government statistics.

At the annual gathering, held this year in Dallas, attendants heard from a number of speakers including Hindu followers of Christ, former missionaries, an evangelism and church growth consultant, and an expert on global Christianity.

Also speaking was Dr. Ralph D. Winter, one of the founders of the ISFM and the U.S. Center for World Mission, who has been noted by Time Magazine as one of America’s top 25 evangelicals. more >>

  • Interview: Dr. Ralph D. Winter, Founder of the United States Center for World Mission

So after ten years at Fuller, Winter left and established the Frontier Mission Fellowship in 1976, immediately initiating two major projects: the U.S. Center for World Mission and William Carey International University.

As stated by TIME Magazine-which recently featured Winter on their cover-story list of America’s top 25 Evangelicals-Winter “revolutionized […] missionary work overseas” with his “impassioned call for Christians to serve the world’s ‘unreached peoples’.” more >>

  • USCWM Responds to TIME Feature on Top Evangelicals

By Kenneth Chan on March 10,2005

The United States Center for World Mission recently released a response to the Feb. 7 issue of TIME magazine in which its founder, Dr. Ralph Winter, was named one of America’s 25 most influential Evangelicals. The statement is one of several that have come out since the release of TIME’s debatable cover story.

While the USCWM said TIME's inclusion of Winter to the cover-story list was “a pleasant surprise,” the Center noted that “TIME’s description was confusing and misleading.”

In particular, the USCWM pointed out two statements. more >>

Dr. Ralph D. Winter
1924-2009

"Ralph Winter was a man of God who gave a vision to many Christians of a world in need of the gospel. I used to meet with him on many occasions, often in small group prayer. Some of my vision for world evangelization came from my interaction with him, and I am grateful."
