6 Christian Artists Releasing New Christmas Music

With Christmas fast approaching, a number of singers are releasing new music to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. The Christian Post is highlighting six new Christmas music projects which are sure to help usher in some Yuletide cheer.

1. for King & Country

The Grammy Award-winning pop duo for King & Country released their first studio album in 2012, but have yet to create a full fledged Christmas record. That is, until now.

The Australian brothers took to Instagram to reveal their latest 10-track project, Christmas LIVE From Phoenix last month.

"Looks like Christmas is coming early this year..," the singers wrote on social media. "We are releasing our first ever full length Christmas album."

2. Hannah Kerr

Hannah Kerr's favorite holiday is Christmas and with her new six-track EP Emmanuel, she wants to use her voice to share the reason for the season. Along with Christmas classics like "O Come O Come Emmanuel," "Breath of Heaven," and "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," Kerr also has co-written original songs "Emmanuel" and "Christmas Eve in Bethlehem" for the project.

"I'm so excited to release this EP! Christmas is my favorite holiday and always such a good reminder of the nearness of our Savior," she said, according to the Gospel Music Association. "I hope these songs bring peace and joy to everyone who listens to them. I'm praying that we will all be reminded of Emmanuel–our God who was with us on that first Christmas in Bethlehem, and who is with us now."

3. Meredith Andrews

Meredith Andrews wants to make Christmas more meaningful this year with her new Christmas album, Receive Our King. As a fan of Christmas music, Andrews was intentional about recording music that would deepen emotions surrounding the birth of Jesus Christ.

"I have several 'go-to' albums, the ones that immediately take me back to my Christmases as a little girl as well as the ones that are just fun, meaningful, or nostalgic. When it came time to make my own Christmas album, I wanted to capture the beauty and wonder of Jesus coming to earth as a baby to rescue the world and to create a project that would deepen the listener's experience of Christmas," she said in a statement obtained by the Gospel Music Association. "I am so excited to release Receive Our King for the coming Advent season, and pray that everyone who hears these songs will be drawn in to remember, reflect, and respond to the birth of our Savior that truly was the turning point in history."

4. Hillsong Worship

Hillsong Worship is having a big year after winning song of the year and worship song of the year for their hit "What a Beautiful Name" at the 48th GMA Dove Awards. Now, the worship band is furthering their music ministry this holiday season by releasing a 12-track Christmas album, The Peace Project.

Along with familiar songs like "Hark," "O Holy Night" and "Joy to the World," the Hillsong singers are releasing seven new songs on the album with titles like "Prince of Heaven," "Seasons," and "Peace Upon the Earth." Hillsong Worship singer Brooke Ligertwood called it a holy responsibility to release the record.

"As recipients of reconciliation, we now carry the outrageous and holy responsibility of propagating this kind of peace in our broken world: Peace that is active, justice that is presenced, the Kingdom of God in our midst," she said in a statement obtained by the GMA.

 5. Bryan & Katie Torwalt

Before husband and wife singer-songwriter duo Bryan and Katie Torwalt recorded their new EP, simply titled Christmas, the Jesus Culture worship band members spent months listening to holiday music to prepare. The result is a number of Christmas classics featuring the harmonies they have become known for in songs like "The Christmas Song," "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas," "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing," and "Oh Come Let Us Adore Him."

The pair also remixed their song "Emmanuel (God With Us Forever)" from their 2016 album Champion, putting a holiday spin on it. The goal for the Torwalts is to see lives changed for people who listen to their record and remember the reason for the holiday season.

"The beautiful thing about Christmas time is that everything points to God and his Kingdom. The birth of Jesus is at the center, and it's incredible how our awareness of Him increases during the Christmas season, but even the acts of kindness and generosity, or emphasis on family are all in the heart of God," the pair said, according to the GMA. We hope our music brings joy in moments when people need it, and that people would become more aware of God, who is relentlessly good in the middle of it all."

6. Jonathan Cain

Jonathan Cain has been releasing music for close to 40 years, but now the singer-songwriter, who was inducted into the 2017 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for his work with rock group Journey, is releasing his second Christmas album with Unsung Noel.

Along with renditions of popular Christmas tunes "Angels We Have Heard on High," "O Holy Night," and "Do You Hear What I Hear," Cain has written 10 new songs for the record. Cain said he wanted to celebrate more than the birth of Jesus Christ, but also the second coming of the savior.

"I wanted to make an album that really celebrates the Nativity and the birth of Christ and the coming of Christ and the things I thought were missing on a lot of the Christian albums," the singer-songwriter and husband of Pastor Paula White told Billboard.
