The Christian Post journalist Brandon Showalter, co-producer of the "Generation Indoctrination" podcast series and co-author of the e-book "Exposing the Gender Lie" shares opening remarks for CP's first-ever public event called "Unmasking Gender Ideology" at First Baptist Church of Dallas on March 23, 2023. He explains how CP sees these touchy issues as a publication grounded in Genesis 1:27 while also stressing the importance of communicating truthfully and the refusal to twist language in service to gender ideology in an era when vulnerable groups are being irreversibly harmed by it, among them children, teens, young adults, and incarcerated women.

Amie Ichikawa, Woman II Woman

Amie Ichikawa, founder of the incarcerated women’s rights group Woman II Woman, speaks about what women in prison are enduring due to the adoption of legislation such as California’s Senate Bill 132 which allows men (including sex offenders and hardened criminals) who claim to be women to transfer into women’s correctional facilities.

She additionally shares about a pending lawsuit that has been filed by the Women’s Liberation Front on behalf of four incarcerated women and how churches can help those who are currently enduring the effects of gender self-ID laws in prison.

Jennifer Lahl, Center for Bioethics & Culture

Jennifer Lahl, founder and president of the Center for Bioethics & Culture and a documentary filmmaker. She speaks about how biomedical ethics has broken down in society such that standards have been tailored to what the consumer wants in terms of medical services. She elaborates on the emerging groups of people called “desisters” and “detransitioners” and what they have endured amid the culture that teaches young people that they can somehow become the opposite sex or some other “gender identity.” Her most recent film, “The Detransition Diaries: Saving Our Sisters”, explores the plight of three women who underwent cross-sex hormones and body-altering surgery in pursuit of a transgender identity.

Dr. Andre Van Mol, board-certified family physician

Dr. Andre Van Mol is a board-certified family doctor based in Redding, California who frequently testifies in various legislatures and international fora about the dangers of “gender-affirming” care. He explains the difficult battles that doctors who believe as he does face given the ideological capture of institutions and courts where these issues are being adjudicated. Speaking to the question of actual science versus junk science, he elaborates on what happens when scientists and researchers review the evidence and professional literature for treating gender confusion with experimental medicalization such as puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and transgender surgery. He also highlights a recent example of junk science in the American Journal of Psychiatry that was celebrated in the mass media but turned out to be deeply flawed research.

Mary Hasson, Ethics & Public Policy Center

Mary Hasson is an attorney and fellow of the Ethics & Public Policy Center in Washington, DC who has been on the front lines of the legal fight, and explains how “gender identity” undermines “sex” as a category and how that corrodes the law. She notes here how trans-sexual activists have seized culture-making institutions concurrent with the decline of religious faith. In 2018, she co-authored the book “Get Out Now: Why You Should Pull Your Child from Public School Before It’s Too Late” with Theresa Farnan.

Dr. Jeff Myers, Summit Ministries

President of Summit Ministries Dr. Jeff Myers shares why the issue of transgenderism is so crucial and why Christians who care about worldview formation of the next generation need to care about it given how it fundamentally alters how we know what we know, that is it is an assault on the concept of truth itself. Specifically, he mentions how gender ideology twists language to distort reality, a theme that is more fully captured in an e-book he co-authored called “Exposing the Gender Lie.” He also describes how Christians can engage these topics with a biblically-informed and redemptive response amid the confusion.

Julia Jeffress Sadler, First Baptist Church-Dallas

A minister to the rising generation and a therapist, Julia Jeffress Sadler speaks of the challenges she sees young people enduring amid the great confusion in the culture, noting how many young people struggle to apply the truth practically in real life. She also advises parents to never lose connection with their children should they present with distress over sexuality and gender issues and why it’s vitally important to navigate these tense situations with both truth and love.
