A nonpartisan group called The Kelsey Coalition petitioned Surgeon General Jerome Adams to raise awareness about these harms. They are also asking the U.S. government to open an investigation into a $5.7 million National Institutes of Health research grant that was awarded to four pediatric gender clinics in 2015 for a five-year study in which children as young as 8 years old are given cross-sex hormones.

— Gospel for Asia founder talks about fraud lawsuit

Gospel for Asia founder K.P. Yohannan is speaking out this week after reaching a $37 million settlement over allegations that his nonprofit mishandled millions in donations.

In an interview with California Pastor Francis Chan, a supporter of Gospel for Asia, Yohannan defended the organization, which says it helped hundreds of thousands of children and women in 2018 with health care, literacy classes, water and other necessities despite the legal troubles.

Calling the past few years “one of the most difficult and loneliest times in my own personal life,” Yohannan said he questioned God and was “confused” as to why this was happening.

— Coalition of left-leaning pastors warn against Christian nationalism

A coalition of left leaning pastors have joined a campaign warning against Christian nationalism.

The campaign was recently launched by the Baptist Joint Committee, a liberal faith-based group of attorneys, Capitol Hill insiders, ministers and scholars.

The coalition’s statement says, in part: “Christian nationalism demands Christianity be privileged by the State and implies that to be a good American, one must be Christian. … We reject this damaging political ideology.”

Among the endorsers of the coalition’s statement is bishop and primate of The Episcopal Church, the Rev. Michael Curry, a supporter of same-sex marriage who presided over the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Archaeologists believe they have likely found the Church of the Apostles, which is said to have been built over the house of Jesus’ disciples Peter and Andrew in the ancient Israeli city of Bethsaida, near Israel’s Sea of Galilee.

The biblical discovery was made by a team from Kinneret College in Israel and Nyack College's Center for the Study of Ancient Judaism and Christian Origins, who have been excavating the site on the northern shore of the Sea of Galilee since 2017.

— Persecution group urges Nigeria to investigate reports of Leah Sharibu's death

Persecution watchdog group Open Doors is calling on the Nigerian government to launch an investigation into reports that a Christian schoolgirl kidnapped by terrorists last year has been killed.

The Boko Haram splinter group ISWAP, which also has ties to Islamic State terrorists, kidnapped 16-year-old Leah Sharibu along with more than 100 other schoolgirls in the town of Dapchi in February of 2018.

About five of the schoolgirls kidnapped alongside Sharibu died and all others were released weeks later. The jihadis reportedly did not release Sharibu with her classmates because of her refusal to renounce her faith in Christ.

In a statement released on July 26, Open Doors USA cautioned against buying into reports of the girl’s death, but also urged Nigeria’s government to immediately launch an investigation into the report.
