A district court judge ruled that California State University of San Marcos engaged in viewpoint discrimination when it rejected a pro-life group’s request for funding for an event.

At issue was the university’s mandatory student fees that go to Associated Students, Inc. to fund student group events. In 2017, ASI refused to provide funds for an event hosted by the Students for Life.

— Skillet rocker speaks out on influencers falling away from faith

John Cooper, lead singer of the Christian rock band Skillet, chose to speak out this week and express dismay over popular Christian leaders publicly renouncing their faith.

Without naming names, Cooper said he was “stunned” that these influencers would be so vocal in announcing their apostasy.

He said in a Facebook post, “I’m perplexed why they aren’t embarrassed? Humbled? Ashamed, fearful, confused? Why be so eager to continue leading people when you clearly don’t know where you are headed?”

The artist also warned believers against placing Christian leaders and influencers up on a pedestal and advised that they get back to the Bible, rather than relying on worship songs for their source of truth.

— Planned Parenthood plans to withdraw from Title X if court doesn’t intervene

Planned Parenthood said Wednesday it will formally withdraw from the Title X federal family planning program by next Monday if a federal court does not intervene.

The abortion provider is asking for a stay of a rule passed by the Department of Health and Human Services banning organizations that receive Title X funding from performing abortions or referring patients for abortion.

The rule is slated to go into effect on Sept. 18.

Over the last several years, Planned Parenthood has received over $500 million in taxpayer funding each year.

— Bibles exempt from tariff hike on Chinese goods

Christian leaders are hailing the Trump administration's decision to remove Bibles and other religious books from its lists of Chinese goods facing a 10 percent hike in tariffs.

LifeWay Christian Resources President Ben Mandrell welcomed the news, given that a tariff would have threatened their publishing work by increasing the costs.

— Science teacher identifies as Mx., distributes Gender Unicorn to class

A seventh and eight grade science teacher at a school in Northern California greeted students last week with “Gender Unicorn” worksheets and said he prefers to go by Mx. Instead of Mr.

While the principal at Denair Middle School stopped Luis Davila Alvarado from continuing the distribution, some believe more schools are pushing a gender identity agenda on young kids.

Rebecca Friedrichs, founder of the teacher and child advocacy organization For Kids & Country said schools “shouldn’t be training grounds for social agendas or sexual war zones.”

She argued that teachers’ unions and their liberal allies such as the ACLU are behind the push and are effectively silencing parents and teachers who oppose.
