Speaking to thousands gathered for the 30th annual Southern California Harvest Sunday, baseball great Darryl Strawberry said he is thankful to have been imprisoned during the early 2000s because he may never have found God otherwise.

“I am glad everything that happened to me because had it not, I probably would have made another $50 million playing baseball but I would have never met Jesus,” Strawberry explained. “That would have kept me separated. That would have kept me in a lifestyle of thinking that I have it all together.”

Fewer Americans see religion, having children as ‘very important’

Less than half of Americans now see religion and having children as “very important.” And despite being mostly satisfied with the state of the economy, most remain anxious their children won’t enjoy a better life than the one they have, according to a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.

Just 30% of respondents identifying as Millennials or Generation Z (ages 18-38) say religion or belief in God is very important, while 67% of those over 55 agree.

Most respondents under 38 do not see having children as very important while some 54% of respondents over 55 say it is. Overall, only 43% of Americans view having children as very important, a drop from 59% two decades ago.

Pennsylvania legislature can ban atheist invocations, court rules, 'only theistic prayer can' appeal to God

An appeals court upheld the Pennsylvania House of Representatives’ invocation policy that allows guest chaplains to give prayers and bars atheists from participating.

Circuit Judge Thomas Ambro authored the majority opinion, writing they upheld the ban on non-theistic invocations because “only theistic prayer can satisfy the historical purpose of appealing for divine guidance in lawmaking.”

“First, only theistic prayer can satisfy all the traditional purposes of legislative prayer. Second, the Supreme Court has long taken as given that prayer presumes invoking a higher power.”

Yale professor, computer scientist rejects Darwinism, now finds Intelligent Design compelling

An Ivy League professor of computer science has abandoned Darwinism and denounced evolution as an improbable scientific theory. Intelligent design, he now says, is an argument worthy of deeper consideration.

David Gelertner, who has taught computer science at Yale University since 1982, penned an article earlier this year detailing his journey of coming to believe that Darwinian evolution is wrong.

Although his fellow academics remain his friends and are courteous to him, he noted, "when I look at their intellectual behavior, what they publish, and, much more important, what they tell their students, Darwinism has indeed passed beyond a scientific argument."

"I am attacking their religion," he added. "It is a big issue for them."

India: 11-y-o deaf girl beaten, abandoned by Hindu family for Christian faith refuses to deny Christ

A 12-year-old girl in India, Saree, shared the harrowing account of how her Hindu family beat her and kicked her out of their house after she converted to Christianity — yet she refused to deny Jesus Christ.

One of Saree’s aunts, a devout Christian, convinced the then-11-year-old to go with her to church. She told her niece. “Come with me. My God will heal you.”

Saree's mother told her aunt, “Your God is not our God. We are not going to believe in your God.”

Later, the aunt warned Saree not to go to church.

Excited by her newfound faith, Saree continued to attend the church without telling her family. However, it wasn’t long before her brother discovered her secret.

“He and my father beat me and dragged me into the house,” Saree said. “One time, I was carrying a Bible. He took it, threw it into the mud and beat me with a stick. Later I collected the Bible, wiped it clean and gave it to another believer. He kept it safe for me."
