The Department of Human and Human Services’ Office of Civil Rights announced Wednesday that the University of Vermont Medical Center violated a federal statute that protects individuals and entities opposed to performing abortions.

In May 2018, an unnamed nurse filed a complaint against UVMMC for allegedly forcing her to violate her religious beliefs by assisting in an abortion.

“Forcing medical staff to assist in the taking of human life inflicts a moral injury on them that is not only unnecessary and wrong, it violates longstanding federal law,” said OCR Director Roger Severino in a statement.

Todd Bentley sexual misconduct allegations widen to Pakistan

Sexual misconduct allegations against Fresh Fire USA leader Todd Bentley have now snowballed to include reports from victims overseas, according to Stephen Powell, the estranged protégé of the popular and controversial faith healer.

Powell told The Christian Post in an interview: “I’ve just had a written statement submitted by a pastor last night of all kinds of stuff, including how he is talking to multiple leaders in Pakistan that are claiming that Todd sexually assaulted three girls over there … I don’t know the exact nature of it but they used the word sexually assaulted. … We’re trying now to get the written statement from the (Pakistani) pastors themselves.”

Falwell Jr. accused of steering Liberty University land deal to benefit personal trainer

Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr. helped his personal trainer, Benjamin Crosswhite, obtain former school property through personally approved real estate transactions.

Crosswhite now owns an 18-acre fitness and sports facility that was once property owned by Liberty, due to real estate transactions signed by Falwell.

In 2016, Falwell signed the real estate deal transferring the property to Crosswhite, with the trainer not being required to put his own money toward the purchase price.

Liberty committed about $650,000 up front to lease back tennis courts on the site property for nine years and also offered Crosswhite financing, at a low interest rate, to cover the rest of the $1.2 million transaction.

Lee Strobel unveils new center for evangelism and apologetics

Author and apologist Lee Strobel has announced he is launching a center for evangelism and apologetics in collaboration with Colorado Christian University in efforts to fuel spiritual renewal in America, revitalize churches, and equip the next generation to understand and defend their faith.

“We live in an increasingly skeptical and even hostile culture toward the Christian message, and apologetics, which is literally giving evidence for the faith, is increasingly important as a result,” Strobel told The Christian Post. “Apologetics gets people past their spiritual ‘sticking points.’ A lot of people in culture have objections, questions, and doubts about God, and when we can give them a reason for these things, it can make great progress for God.”

YouTube demonetizes 'Warriors for Christ' page with over 500,000 followers

Tennessee resident Richard Penkoski, who leads Warriors for Christ, is crying foul after YouTube demonetized his ministry's YouTube page for apparent noncompliance with YouTube's advertising policy.

Penkoski told The Christian Post that the Warriors for Christ YouTube page of over 560,000 followers used to net his ministry an income of somewhere around $600 per month.

But in mid-August, all of the videos on the Warriors for Christ YouTube channel were “demonetized,” meaning that they are not eligible to receive advertising revenue.

Penkoski explained that YouTube informed him in a notification that his videos were reviewed and ruled unsuitable “for all advertisers” and that his channel's videos will “run limited to no adds.” He added that he was given no explanation from YouTube as to how the videos violated YouTube’s advertiser-friend guidelines.
