The United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit has for the second time affirmed that a Trump administration rule barring abortion providers from receiving family planning funds under Title X can take effect.

Multiple lawsuits had been filed after the Department of Health and Human Services announced in February that it finalized a federal rule banning Title X funding of abortion.

National Right to Life President Carol Tobias celebrated the order, saying in a statement released Thursday that she was grateful to President Donald Trump “for his continued leadership in protecting the most vulnerable among us.”

Tobias said: “This rule draws a bright line between family planning and abortion.”

— French man dies after feeding tube removed

A hospital in France made the controversial decision this week to remove a man’s feeding tube which led to his death. The decision has garnered international attention and condemnation from pro-life groups.

Vincent Lambert had been in a vegetative state for over 10 years after a car accident. His parents, who are Catholic, were in a years-long battle to keep him alive while his wife and some of his siblings argued that he should be allowed to die.

Doctors at Reims Hospital began removing life support last week after France’s highest appeals court allowed doctors to do so.

Pro-life advocates argued the withdrawal of food and water from someone who was not going to die is an unethical practice.

Tom Shakely, chief engagement officer of Americans United for Life, said in a statement to The Christian Post: "There will be more ‘Vincents’ until we recognize that every person — abled or disabled, and at whatever point of the spectrum of human life — deserves equal protection under law.”

— Number of Britons who identify as Christian hits all-time low

The number of Britons who identify as Christian has hit its lowest point in over three decades.

The National Centre for Social Research released its 36th annual British Social Attitudes report this week and found that only 38% of the respondents identify as Christian, a far cry from the 66% of respondents in the organization’s 1998 survey who identified as Christian.

52% of respondents to the survey said they do not belong to any religion.

In 2008, 50% of respondents identified as Christian.

Only 1% of Britons aged 18 to 24 identified as Anglican, compared to 33% of people older than 75.

The results were based on a survey of 3,879 people.

— Jihadists attack Christian church in Syria

At least 11 people were injured in a car bombing outside a Syriac Christian church in a Kurdish-majority city in northeast Syria on Thursday.

AFP reports that ISIS has claimed responsibility for the car bombing outside the Virgin Mary Syriac Orthodox Church in Qamishli, a city located along Syria’s northeastern border with Turkey.

According to Syrian state media, 11 people were wounded in the bombing and cars were damaged.

Communications intercepted by the SITE Intelligence Group showed that jihadists were targeting a gathering of “belligerent Christians.”

The persecution watchdog group International Christian Concern says Christians in Qamishli have maintained a stronger presence in the city than other regions in Syria.

ICC says Thursday’s bombing underscores how volatile Syria remains.

— Republican candidate criticized for invoking 'Billy Graham rule'

A Mississippi gubernatorial candidate who has vowed to push back against the left-wing agenda is facing pushback after he invoked the “Billy Graham rule” when a female reporter asked to go on a campaign ride-along with him this week.

Republican Robert Foster has been accused of being sexist after he told Mississippi Today reporter Larrison Campbell that she needed to bring along a male colleague if she wanted to go with him on a 15-hour “ride-along” as he campaigned throughout the Magnolia State in the lead-up to next month’s primary election.

Campbell told mainstream media that she was told by Foster’s campaign director, Colton Robison, that she could not be in the car alone with Foster because "they believed the optics of the candidate with a woman, even a working reporter, could be used in a smear campaign to insinuate an extramarital affair."

In a tweet, Foster justified his decision by saying that he and his wife committed to following the “Billy Graham” rule.
