— Amazon stops selling books by Catholic psychologist amid LGBT activist pressure
Amazon has permanently removed from its website books by Joseph Nicolosi, the late clinical psychologist who was often referred to as the "father of conversion therapy.”
LGBT activists had petitioned the online retail giant to stop selling books that promote gay “cures.”
Amazon also disallowed Catholic attorney David A. Robinson from selling his book on the platform in which he shares his personal story of leaving homosexuality.
Michael Brown, host of the Line of Fire radio program, called it a “frightening” move and wonders if the Bible is next to be banned.
— IKEA ex-employee sues company for firing over quoting Bible verses on homosexuality
The popular Sweden-based furniture retailer IKEA is being sued after it fired an employee for posting Bible verses to voice his objection to the company’s promotion of “LGBT rights.”
IKEA published an article on the international day against homophobia, biphobia and transphobia, presenting its “values and position” on LGBT issues.
The former employee posted his objections to IKEA’s statement on a company message board and said he was “shaken up.” He added that he was “hired to sell furniture but I’m a Catholic and these aren’t my values.”
The former employee’s post included Bible verses Matthew 18:6 and Leviticus 20:13, which led employees to complain to human resources about the Scriptures.
IKEA said it is “an open-minded company” but lamented that: “The employee actually used quotes from the Old Testament ...”
The former employee said he was asked to remove the offending post but said he: “cannot censor God.”
— Gallup poll shows more pro-lifers than pro-choicers
Gallup has released its annual public-opinion poll on abortion policy, and its results contain some good news for abortion opponents, says Michael J. New, a visiting associate professor at Ave Maria University and an associate scholar at the Charlotte Lozier Institute.
According to the survey, 49 percent of Americans now identify as pro-life, while 46 percent calling themselves “pro-choice.” This is the first Gallup poll since 2013 in which a higher percentage of respondents identified as “pro-life” rather than “pro-choice.”
The new survey also found that the percentage of Americans who think abortion should either be “illegal in all circumstances” or “legal in only a few circumstances” increased from 53 percent to 60 percent between 2018 and 2019.
A Gallup poll conducted in May, meanwhile, found that the percentage of Americans who consider abortion immoral reached 50 percent for the first time since 2012.
