Actress Patricia Heaton says she's praying for Kanye West because people want to see him fail at Christianity.

Heaton, a devout Catholic who frequently speaks out about social issues and her faith, said she’s “definitely praying for” West. The pro-life actress who became a household name while starring on the television sitcom “Everybody Loves Raymond,” said people will scrutinize everything Kanye West does to catch him falling down.

"People want to see him fail at Christianity,” she said.

— Faith leaders pray with Trump at White House

Several faith leaders, including notable conservative Christian and evangelical pastors, held an informal meeting with President Trump at the White House this week.

White House Deputy Press Secretary Judd Deere said the president and religious leaders met Tuesday morning where they “discussed the Administration’s many accomplishments for the American people and how the communities they represent from across the country are benefiting from these important policies.”

Johnnie Moore, a human rights activist who serves as an adviser in the Trump administration, said some of the achievements they discussed included: criminal justice reform, defending religious freedom, reducing abortion, combatting the opioid crisis and trafficking, ISIS and the killing of  al-Baghdadi.

— Southern Baptist church says ‘racial prejudice’ influenced senior pastor vote

A Florida church affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention said “racial prejudice” likely influenced a vote result that failed to confirm an African American pastor as the congregation’s new senior pastor. While Pastor Marcus Hayes received a super-majority 81% of the vote, according to First Baptist Church Naples’ constitution and bylaws, he required 85% to be approved as the new senior pastor. The final vote was 1,552 in favor, 365 opposed.

The pastoral staff expressed regret over the results and wrote that a “minority group” within the church used “unscrupulous, divisive, and false accusations” to derail Hayes’ confirmation. The staff added: “If that were not bad enough, part of the minority ‘no’ vote did something that, quite honestly, should never ever have its place in society, much less the Lord’s Church. Through social media, texting, phone, and emails, racial prejudice was introduced into our voting process.” The staff called upon all those who took part in the prejudicial actions to “confess and repent” immediately.

— Televangelist Paula White joins White House staff

Two weeks after publicly recalling how God chose her to “shake nations” and disciple President Trump — despite a controversial past many orthodox Christians believe should have disqualified her — televangelist Paula White is now a staff member at the White House.

White will work in the Office of Public Liaison with the Faith and Opportunity Initiative established by President Trump in May 2018. She is expected to serve in an advisory role, a White House official told The New York Times. The Faith and Opportunity initiative will assist faith-based and other organizations in their efforts to strengthen the institutions of civil society and American families and communities.

Co-founder, CEO of A Rocha killed in South Africa crash

Miranda Harris, co-founder of international Christian conservation organization A Rocha, was killed in a crash in South Africa Monday along with the organization’s CEO, Chris Naylor, and his wife, Susanna. Miranda’s husband, Peter Harris, 67, a former Anglican clergyman who was also traveling with the group, survived along with their driver.

The couples were driving along the 450 mile Garden Route from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth to the airport to return to the U.K. when the silver Toyota they were traveling in crashed over a bridge and plunged 75 feet into a river below. Police have opened an investigation into "possible culpable homicide."
