Iraqi Christian groups respond to criticism of USAID grants to help victims of ISIS

Iraqi Christian groups are responding after grants they were awarded last month from the U.S. Agency for International Development to help restore the Nineveh Plains and strengthen communities victimized by the Islamic State (IS) were criticized by media.
Religious freedom advocates say criticism of USAID funding going to these groups is an attempt to turn America’s bipartisan desire to aid religious minority communities decimated by IS and on the verge of extinction into a “partisan” issue.
International human rights lawyer Nina Shea, a senior fellow with the Hudson Institute, told The Christian Post, “It is irrational, immoral and inconsistent with international human rights theory and policy to argue that the United States should not be helping Christians or a religious group targeted with religious genocide by ISIS.”
'Chick-fil-A remains committed to Christian values,' Franklin Graham says after call to CEO Dan Cathy
Rev. Franklin Graham said he was assured by Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy that the company "remains committed to Christian values," after the fast-food chain’s charity arm decided to no longer donate to three organizations criticized for upholding traditional Christian beliefs on sexuality.
In a Thursday morning Facebook post, Graham, leader of Samaritan's Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, said he spoke with Cathy on the phone.
"Dan was very clear that they have not bowed down to anyone’s demands, including the LGBTQ community. They will continue to support whoever they want to support. They haven’t changed who they are or what they believe. Chick-fil-A remains committed to Christian values. Dan Cathy assured me that this isn’t going to change. I hope all those who jumped to the wrong conclusion about them read this," Graham wrote.
Pastor who prayed for Obama before election asks God to reveal plan for Kamala Harris
Rev. Telley Lynnette Gadson, senior pastor and spiritual coach at Saint Mark United Methodist Church in Taylors, South Carolina, who prayed for former President Barack Obama before he was elected in 2008, recently asked God to manifest his plan for 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris.
“We know God that from the very foundation of the world you had a plan for her just like you had a plan for each one of us. So manifest it now God in the name of Jesus. Be with her every step of the way. God I pray now that you would just prepare the highway. Prepare every road that she will travel. Order her steps in the name of Jesus and right now. God, we speak to the enemy of her soul. We speak to the enemy of this world in the name of Jesus. And we would stand by faith and know that you are God and besides you there is no other,” Gadson declared while thanking Jesus.
Pompeo announces reversal of long-held stance on West Bank settlements
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced Monday that the Trump administration will reverse the previous administration’s stance that Israeli settlements in the West Bank are a violation of international law and a hindrance to peace.
“We are not addressing or prejudging the ultimate status of the West Bank. This is for the Israelis and the Palestinians to negotiate. International law does not compel a particular outcome, nor create any legal obstacle to a negotiated resolution,” he said.
“Calling the establishment of civilian settlements inconsistent with international law hasn’t worked. It hasn’t advanced the cause of peace.”
Pastor and hearing-impaired child killed by Boko Haram in Cameroon church
Retired pioneering pastor David Mokoni and a hearing-impaired child were killed on Nov. 6 when Boko Haram militants carried out a nighttime attack on a church in the town of Moskota in Cameroon’s northern Mayo-Tsanaga district.
Two other pastors present at the church when the attack occurred managed to escape while another is being treated for a gunshot wound in the leg.
