Joanne Rogers said her husband, Fred Rogers, saw himself as a minister first, and his long running children's show, PBS' "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood," as his mission field.
"One of the most important things we accept and know is that Fred was first and foremost a minister in the Presbyterian Church,” Joanne Rogers told The Christian Post.
“He was ordained as an evangelist to continue his work that he was doing with family and children. That work was his ministry. There was never a time that he ever forgot that.”

Texas AG joins effort to stop hospital from removing baby Tinslee Lewis’ life support
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton joined a legal battle Friday in defense of a 9-month-old girl who’s receiving treatment at Cook Children’s Medical Center which is seeking to remove the baby’s life support.
Paxton issued a friend-of-the-court brief in support of baby Tinslee Lewis and her family three days after a judge renewed a temporary restraining order that prohibits Cook Children’s in Fort Worth from removing a feeding tube and ventilator, and gives the family until Dec. 10 to find a hospital elsewhere in the U.S. that will admit the baby and continue her treatment.
In a statement to The Christian Post on Friday, Paxton said, “One of the core principles provided by the U.S. Constitution is that no person should be deprived of life, liberty or property without due process of law."
Lesbian in same-sex marriage sues Fuller Seminary over expulsion
A woman has filed a lawsuit against Fuller Theological Seminary, accusing it of violating Title IX rules when it expelled her for being in a same-sex marriage.
Joanna Maxon brought the suit against the nondenominational seminary on Thursday. The lawsuit is being filed in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
Fuller says that they are “a historically multi-denominational seminary” that has “a commitment to academic freedom” and strives “to serve the global Christian church in its various perspectives.”
“We remain committed to these relationships in all their complexities while maintaining community standards and a statement of faith that apply to various areas of beliefs and behavior.”
“Students are informed of and explicitly agree to abide by these standards when applying to the institution.”
Egypt: Coptic Christian family stabbed by radical Muslim wielding dagger
Three members of a Coptic Christian family in Upper Egypt were attacked outside their home by a dagger-wielding Muslim man, leaving one son in critical condition.
Shinoda Aziz, along with his mother and a younger brother, were attacked Sunday while sitting outside his family’s home in the Nassiriya village, near Beni Mazar, in the Minya Governorate.
The suspect, known only as Ali M, approached the Coptic family while they were sitting outside in front of their home.
The suspect is accused of telling the family that they should not sit outside because no Christians are allowed outside. The man is said to have shouted for them to go back inside.
However, Aziz, the eldest son, objected to the assailant’s demands and stood up to him.
The suspect then walked to his house to grab a dagger before walking back to Aziz's family's home where he attacked them. When Aziz's mother began to scream, neighbors said the assailant stabbed her in the head and then attacked her youngest son, who suffered cuts to his face.
