2020 Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke said Thursday that churches, charities and other religious institutions that oppose same-sex marriage should lose their tax exempt status.

At CNN's Equality Townhall, news opinion host Don Lemon asked O'Rourke if he believes “religious institutions like colleges, churches and charities should lose their tax-exempt status if they oppose same sex marriage?"

"Yes," O’Rourke replied. Also as part of his LGBT agenda, O’Rourke plans to reverse all of President Donald Trump’s religious exemptions.

Red Letter Christians mark Sunday as national day of prayer for Trump impeachment

A nondenominational group of liberal believers who call themselves the Red Letter Christians will hold a national day of prayer Sunday in support of the impeachment inquiry of President Donald Trump and are calling on other believers to join them.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a Democrat, announced a formal impeachment inquiry into claims that President Donald Trump asked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on a telephone call in July to investigate Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden’s past dealings in Ukraine for what she described as "personal gain.”

The Red Letter Christians said they decided to pray for members of Congress after a gathering earlier this month in Goldsboro, North Carolina, for a Red Letter Revival to lift up Jesus and justice.

— Democratic lawmaker says her pro-life views are based on Christianity, not politics

A Democratic state lawmaker from Louisiana says her pro-life views on abortion are not political, they are Christian. State Representative Katrina Jackson of Louisiana’s 16th District was part of an all-female panel of pro-life state legislators at the Values Voters Summit in Washington, D.C., on Friday.

When asked how she became pro-life, Jackson responded by saying: “It’s as simple as this for me: God hates the shedding of innocent blood, and so I always said that whatever God hated, Katrina Jackson was going to hate too.”

— Atheists believe gestures of ‘thoughts and prayers’ in hard times make them worse off

Christians who suffer during natural and human disasters value thoughts and prayers from religious strangers, while atheists and agnostics believe they are made worse off by such gestures, a new study led by a University of Wyoming economist shows.

Researchers asked 482 Christian, agnostic, and atheist victims in the aftermath of Hurricane Florence in September 2018 how much they would be willing to pay for thoughts and prayers from persons with zero levels of religiosity versus priests.

The study, titled The value of thoughts and prayers, was published in the scientific journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences last month. It was undertaken in an attempt to settle the debate between critics who argue that gestures of “thoughts and prayers” are meaningless and might obstruct structural reforms intended to mitigate catastrophes, and others who argue there is value in those gestures.

— Former drug addict baptized at church he vandalized 6 months earlier: 'God is real'

A former drug addict who broke into an Arkansas church and vandalized $100,000 worth of property was baptized at the same church six months later after the pastor and church members displayed grace and forgiveness.

Twenty-three-year-old Brenton Winn was arrested in February after breaking into Central Baptist Church of Conway, Arkansas, and destroying everything in sight. He also set the church’s family life center on fire. Homeless and high on methamphetamines at the time of the break-in, Winn was angry with God after he relapsed from an addiction to methamphetamines despite spending time at a faith-based recovery program.

The judge gave Winn a choice: Face up to 20 years in prison or voluntarily enter a 12-month rehab and recovery program run by a Christian-based ministry. He chose the latter, and it was there that he accepted Christ.
