It’s been one year since North Carolina missionary Andrew Brunson was released from prison in Turkey and now he has a new book out that details his experiences, including the moment he considered taking his own life.

In God’s Hostage: A True Story of Persecution, Imprisonment, and Perseverance, Brunson describes how he felt betrayed by God as he remained in prison on terrorism charges, which he denied.

He wrote, “I went out to the courtyard. I tested the rope. Yes, the clothesline was strong enough to hold my weight. I was ready to go to Heaven.”

Brunson was released after spending 735 days detained in Turkey. He said he was able to endure after hearing from his wife that people around the world were praying for him.

Christian leaders are expressing their outrage and grief over the fatal shooting of Atatiana Jefferson in Fort Worth, Texas.

The 28-year-old black woman was shot inside her home by a police officer on Saturday while she was playing video games with her nephew. The shooting has prompted protests in the community.

Bible teacher Beth Moore said she wants to be part of a change in America as she called the Jefferson shooting “outrageous.”

Kay Warren of Saddleback Church and J. D. Greear, president of the Southern Baptist Convention, also expressed grief over the shooting.

Despite having an extra chromosome, Rachel said that it made her daughter “extra cute” and that “life is wonderful.”

Rep. Sean Duffy had announced in August that he would be leaving his post to care for his new child. He said he and his wife accept “whatever gifts God gives us.”

— Conservatives at Values Voter Summit consider impeachment ‘political theater,’ more concerned about Syria

Family Research Council President Tony Perkins told The Christian Post that many conservatives consider the impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump to be “political theater.”

He said those at the Values Voter Summit, which was held over the weekend in Washington, D.C., are not shaken by the inquiry. Instead, they are more concerned about the recent Turkish military intervention in Syria where the lives of Christians and others are in jeopardy.

Turkey launched strikes against Kurdish rebels in Syria after Trump removed U.S. troops from the area.

— Wooden cross made from Titanic wreckage goes on auction

A wooden cross made from oak taken from the Titanic is up for auction in the U.K. later this month.

The cross was made by Samuel Smith, a carpenter on the ship S.S. Minia, which was one of the vessels that recovered the bodies of Titanic victims in April 1912, as reported by the BBC.

The S.S. Minia picked up debris from the Titanic as they retrieved the bodies. Smith made the cross from some of that wreck wood to honor the more than 1,500 passengers and crew who died when the ship struck an iceberg.
