Some 40,000 to 50,000 Christians are estimated to be in danger after Turkish forces launched an attack on the Kurdish-held territory of northeast Syria earlier this month. The invasion began after President Donald Trump agreed to remove U.S. troops from the area.

David Curry, head of Open Doors, said, “We’re in a real mode of crisis management here.” Christians in Syria have been suffering through a civil war, the Islamic State and now Turkey, which Curry said is using a localized terrorist group Al Nusra to clear out these communities.

Open Doors is currently on the ground providing assistance to those who have been injured or lost their homes. Curry urged Christians around the world to pray and also offer practical assistance such as food and water.

— Pa. city can’t stop pro-lifers from counseling women outside abortion clinics

In Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, pro-lifers have been given the green light by a federal appeals court to continue counseling women outside abortion clinics.

While the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit upheld on Friday the city’s ordinance creating a buffer zone restricting demonstrations outside of abortion clinics, it also said that the rule does not apply to pro-life counselors.

Judge Cheryl Ann Krause wrote, “The text of the Ordinance says nothing about leafletting or peaceful one-on-one conversations, let alone on a particular topic or for a particular purpose.”

— China destroys 3,000-seat church

Chinese government officials destroyed a church that could seat 3,000 people in Anhui province, according to the human rights group China Aid.

China Aid posted a photo and video of the demolition of the church.

The church’s pastors were also detained under suspicion of “gathering a crowd to disturb social order.”

Bob Fu of China Aid said that the incident was “yet another clear example showing the escalation of religious persecution today by the Chinese Communist regime.”

— John MacArthur blasts women preachers

Pastor John MacArthur, who leads Grace Community Church in California, recently denounced popular Bible teacher Beth Moore, President Donald Trump’s spiritual adviser Paula White and evangelicals who support women preachers.

During the Truth Matters Conference, held Oct. 16-18 at his church, MacArthur said he believes the church is “caving in” to women preachers and that “there is no case that can be made biblically for a woman preacher. Period.”

Moore said in a tweet on Monday that she “did not surrender to a calling of man” but “to a calling of God.”

“I will follow Jesus - and Jesus alone - all the way home,” she added.

— Jury orders conspiracy theorist to pay father of Sandy Hook shooting victim $450K

A jury in Dane County, Wisconsin, ordered that former professor James Fetzer must pay the father of a child killed during the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School mass shooting $450,000. Fetzer believes the shooting never happened and was staged by the Obama administration to justify stricter gun laws.

He claimed that Leonard Pozner, whose 6-year-old son was the youngest victim, fabricated parts of his son’s death certificate. Pozner said that the case was not about First Amendment rights, but rather about the pain inflicted on him and other victims of the shooting.
