Gospel star Kirk Franklin announced that he is boycotting Trinity Broadcasting Network, the Gospel Music Association, the Dove Awards and any of the organization’s affiliated events until they address issues of diversity.

Franklin charged in a Monday video statement on Instagram that TBN removed parts of his acceptance speeches from his 2016 and 2019 appearances at Dove Awards shows which advocated for racial justice and reconciliation. When he approached representatives from all the organizations about the situation, he said he was not provided a satisfactory response.

“I am aware that the word boycott often has a negative connotation and finality to it, but my goal will forever be reconciliation as well as accountability. It is important for those in charge to be informed. Not only did they edit my speech, they edited the African American experience,” Franklin charged.

Priest denies communion to Joe Biden over his abortion advocacy

Democratic presidential candidate and former Vice President Joe Biden was denied communion at a South Carolina church Sunday because of his abortion advocacy.

Biden, who is a lifelong Catholic, was refused communion at the 9 a.m. mass at Saint Anthony Catholic Church where Father Robert E. Morey serves as pastor.

“Sadly, this past Sunday, I had to refuse Holy Communion to former Vice President Joe Biden,” Morey told the publication Monday. “Holy Communion signifies we are one with God, each other and the Church. Our actions should reflect that. Any public figure who advocates for abortion places himself or herself outside of Church teaching.”

The rebuke from Morey comes after Biden publicly objected last Wednesday to a proposal to outlaw abortions in South Carolina after about six weeks of pregnancy, including in cases of rape or incest.

Selah frontwoman asks for prayers as California fires threaten home

Selah singer Amy Perry asked friends and supporters for prayers as the California Kincade Fire came near her home and church.

On Sunday, Selah member Todd Smith shared a message from Perry about an impending threat against her California home that included a photo of smoke overtaking the nearby the Carquinez bridge.

“URGENT PRAYER REQUEST from Amy Perry … Hey guys - this is 3 miles from my church. I was supposed to preach this morning and we had to cancel. My granny is about 10 miles from this and has no power, and we know people who are stuck on the freeway where that is. Please pray for us all!” Her message read.

Polyamory next? Activists push to legally accommodate multi-partner relationships

A brewing push is afoot to overhaul laws to accommodate polyamorous relations, euphemistically known as "consensual non-monogamous" arrangements.

In a Thursday CBS News interview, self-described LGBT legal activist Diana Adams explained that she intends to support non-traditional families, including polyamorous ones, before the law has caught up.

Jennifer Roback Morse, founder and president of the Ruth Institute, explained to The Christian Post: "The end game for the sexual revolutionaries is to capture the state to redefine parenthood. They want contract parenting, with no legal 'privileging' or 'incentivizing' of biological relationships. This has been the goal of the LGBT legal community and their allies for some time. Redefining parenthood was always part of the goal of redefining marriage. The charming lesbian couple with children was the rhetorical battering ram to accomplish that through gay marriage. Today, the 'consensual non-monogamy' people are their current battering ram."

New York passes Johnson Amendment barring churches, nonprofits from political endorsements

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has signed a bill into law that prohibits churches and other nonprofits from campaigning for or against political candidates.

Cuomo said he felt the law was necessary in response to efforts by the Trump administration to weaken the Johnson Amendment.

Ryan Tucker of the Alliance Defending Freedom wrote, “In the minds of New York lawmakers, a group can only speak freely if it pays the government extra for the privilege of doing so. That type of financial coercion may pay for a payroll increase in Albany, but it will sideline the roles of both secular and religious charities.

“Cuomo’s comments are wrong. The government can’t condition your tax-exempt status with the surrender of your First Amendment rights or any other constitutionally protected freedom.”
