The wife of a Bible translator, who was killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen in Cameroon, is recovering after her hand was cut off.

Eveline Fung was hospitalized after the Aug. 25 attack on her village and is now in stable condition. But she has been traumatized, especially after her husband, Angus Fung — who played a vital role in the New Testament translation into the Aghem language — was killed.

Fung is a mother to five children and may flee the country as civil conflict continues in Cameroon’s Anglophone region.

Anderson’s mother is grateful her daughter is alive and is trusting in God.

— Churches rally to help Bahamas in aftermath of Hurricane Dorian

Churches and aid groups across the U.S. are coming together to help the Bahamas recover from the devastation of Hurricane Dorian.

The hurricane pummeled the islands for more than two days and is now moving north near the coasts of Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas.

Along with larger organizations such as Samaritan’s Purse and World Help, volunteers from churches including Olive Baptist Church in Pensacola, Florida, Christ Episcopal Church and Greater St. Paul A.M.E. Church are helping with relief efforts.

Deputy Prime Minister Peter Turnquest said it will take hundreds of millions of dollars to recover and rebuild the Bahamas.

— New law in India raises punishment for forced religious conversions

A state in India has passed a new law broadening the definition of illegal conversion and creating stiffer penalties for those accused of forced conversion.

The Freedom of Religion Act 2019 was unanimously approved in a voice vote by the legislature in the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh on Aug 30.

Those accused would now face up to seven years in prison, up from three years.

Critics fear the update to the so-called religious freedom law will be used by Hindus to further harass Christians.
