A rocky relationship between a single science teacher mom and her 17-year-old baseball player son took a deadly turn on Christmas Eve when she was found with multiple stab wounds and her throat slit at her home in Gulf Breeze, Fla. Police say her son has confessed to her murder.

The NWF Daily News reported that the teen, William Brandon Aydelott, was arrested and charged Tuesday night with the premeditated murder of his mother, Sharon Aydelott. She was a teacher at Holley-Navarre Middle School.

"It's just heartbreaking for the family. You just wonder what's in a young person's mind to do something like that," said neighbor Loree Rhodes who told FOX 10 she was shocked to hear the news. Other neighbors also told FOX 10 that the teacher was a single mother with a young daughter in the home. She had recently kicked her son out of the house due to ongoing issues with him.

The Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office told the NWF Daily News that they were called to Sharon Aydelott's home at about 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve where they found her front door open and smeared with blood. Her body was found with several stab wounds in a pool of blood inside. She had a large kitchen knife protruding from one of her eye sockets as well as a slashed throat. Police say she was also beaten with a baseball bat.

Police caught up with the teacher's son three hours after the gruesome find. He was at a nearby residence where he was reportedly staying since he began fighting with his mother in September.

According to the report, he was escorted to the police station without a fight. A bit of dried blood was discovered on his wrist and he remained calm and emotionless as he confessed to his mother's murder.

The shocking murder has left many others in the community in grief as they try to come to terms with what has happened.

"We are upset beyond words. This is one of my child's teachers. She adored her. My condolences to her family and the many students that are impacted," said Michelle Caputo.

"I cannot begin to express the sadness and utter disbelief at the loss of such an amazing individual ... Sharon was a true angel to anyone who met her and will be deeply missed. My condolences go out to her family and the HNMS faculty, staff, and students. I worked with Sharon and cannot imagine the void her loss will bring to the HNMS family," said Keitha Holloway.
