18 Kids Hurt in Georgia Church Bus Crash

A bus crash in Gwinnett County, Ga., left 18 children injured who were part of a group from Florida that was on its way to a Catholic youth conference.

The children, between the ages of 10 and 16, apparently received minor injuries, and were taken to Gwinnett Medical Center after the crash along Interstate 85 south of Steve Reynolds Blvd. on Friday, Gwinnett County Police Department said.

Some of the children received scrapes and cuts from the wreck, while others complained of neck and back pain, WSB-TV reported.

The kids were with a group from Blessed Trinity Catholic Church in Ocala, Fla., that was going in a caravan to a Catholic youth conference in Gwinnett County.

A pickup truck that was leading the caravan swerved to avoid hitting some debris in the road. One of the buses hit the truck and the other bus swerved to not hit anyone, leading to those injuries.
