$250 Amazon Tablet to Crush iPad?

Analysts are stating that Amazon’s new Kindle Tablet could become serious competition for Apple’s iPad.

Amazon plans to release the device this year and offer it for the low price of $250.

It plans to unveil the new tablet in the next few weeks which is said to sport a 7 inch color touchscreen, according to The Guardian.

Amazon will enter into a war between other tablet computer leaders such as RIM with the playbook, HP with the Touchpad and Apple with the iPad 2.

Unlike its competitors, the Amazon Kindle Tablet will be offered for a low price of $250, which is not quite as low as HP’s nearly impossible to find Touchpad, but definitely undercuts Apple’s iPad which sells for anywhere between $500-$800 depending on the specs.

Amazon’s device will also run a unique version of the Android operating system. The company worked with Android to create an OS far different from previous versions such as “Honeycomb” or “Ice Cream Sandwich,” exclusive to its Kindle Tablet.

Tech Crunch tested the device and reported that the systems interface is easy to use and different from all previous Android systems.

Amazon’s Cloud Player for music and Amazons Instant Video Player for movies will already be installed in the tablet which will encourage users to utilize Amazon’s cloud services. Virtually all computers and smartphones will begin to use cloud technology instead of bulky built-in hard drives to store media.

The device will only come with 6GB of hard drive space so Amazon is almost forcing users to utilize cloud technology.

There have also been reports that Amazon’s Tablet will come with a free subscription to Amazon Prime, a service that gives shoppers on the site a free two day shipping and no minimum purchases for free shipping. This service normally costs $79.

Amazon’s Tablet will complement those used to shopping on Amazon.com.

Amazon has managed to create a reputable tablet that it can sell for less than $500. That alone spells out competition for tech giants like Apple who rely on reputation for customers to shell out loads of cash for its products.

With Amazon’s Kindle Tablet entering the market, it is sure to spark a more competitive “War of the Tablets.”
