70-Year-Old Virgin, Cabaret Singer, Now Ready for Marriage

Pam Shaw has reached her 70th birthday as a virgin but says she is now ready to find love.

The Cabaret singer said she had been too busy with work to find love over the previous seven decades, but is now ready for a change.

"Now's the time. I'm ready to take the plunge for the right bloke," said Shaw speaking to British publication The Sun. "My standards are still very high, though. I'm hoping to bag a tall, dark and handsome millionaire."

The 70-year-old noted her strong belief that one should never have sex before marriage. Despite her onstage nickname, "The Sexational Pam," she has upheld a strong belief in abstinence.

"There has never been time for me to get a man," explained the singer. "I worked so much that sometimes I'd only have an hour's sleep each night. I wouldn't entertain the idea of sex outside marriage - and marriage meant giving up on my dreams."

Shaw said the stage name as well as her clothing was all just part of her job.

"I was never short of offers in my heyday," divulged the singer. "Men saw the outfits I wore on stage and thought I would be easy."

Shaw's career as a cabaret performer blossomed after winning a television talent show, "Opportunity Knocks," in the 1960's. She worked alongside past sex symbols such as Tom Jones and Roger Moore and often donned revealing costumes, but always remained pure.

"I may be 70 but I'm young at heart," she said on her current quest for love. "People can't believe it when I tell them my age."

She added, "You are never too old for anything. Just look at Joan Collins," referring to the 78-year-old actress and author.

On Twitter, users are congratulating Shaw on her enduring abstinence and wishing her well on finding love.

"CONGRATS," wrote Janos. "70-year-old virgin says she's finally ready for love."

"You don't want to rush these things," posted Melisa.
