$99 HP TouchPad Sale: HP Touchstone Charging Dock Released as More Tablets Set to Arrive

For those who already own an HP "TouchPad" computer tablet, HP has made a charging station peripheral device for it that is called the "HP Touchstone."

The HP Touchstone charging dock is able to charge the HP TouchPad right on contact. When users are in the middle of any work on the tablet, they can fit the TouchPad onto the device without any interruptions or errors.

So far, users seem to be impressed with the charging station and its capabilities.

Stuart Vernon posted a review of the device on store.precentral.net.

He said, "This stand is nice. The angle it holds the TP at is adjustable. It charges the TP via induction which means there is no connector to attach. You just set the TP on the stand with the correct side down and it starts charging. It only charges on 2 sides, which is really no big deal.”

He added: “In Portrait mode, it's pretty obvious which way to set it in the stand to charge. In Landscape mode, it charges with the left side of the TP down. I.e. with the On/Off button on the left and the USB port on the right. Personally, I'd have rather had it the other way so with the folio case on it, the cover could be flipped over and behind the stand. Instead, it lays out flat in front of the charging stand."

Vernon went on to conclude: "All in all, though, to me this is a must-have item for a TouchPad owner."

HP Inc. is preparing to deliver up to 200,000 TouchPad tablets in a late October production run to satisfy “unfulfilled demand” of the discontinued device.

The company will produce 100,000 to 200,000 TouchPad units and aid several retailers in clearing out their inventory of the device.

The HP TouchPad has been selling at a low price of $99 for the 16GB version and $149 for the 32GB edition.
