This is the third straight year that Real Madrid has faced Ajax in the group stage of the Champions League and Madrid has won four times and scored 12 times in the last four matches against Ajax without conceding a single goal

Real Madrid also seem to be coming into form in La Liga, where despite starting the season inconsistently, Mourinho has focused his team and now are only eight points out of the top spot in league play.

After their impressive win over Manchester City, the Spanish club built on that success with a 2-0 win at Rayo Vallecano and dominated Deportivo Coruna 5-1 at home on Sunday. Their premier goal scorer, Ronaldo, also seems to have found his stride, making five goals in his last three matches.

Ajax manager Frank de Boer is looking to his young playmaker Christian Eriksen to help them overcome their four-match losing streak against Madrid.

"In matches like this, big players stand up and Eriksen has the potential to become such a player," Ajax coach Boer told reporters.

"That's why I criticize him, just to challenge him. I know he is only 20 years old but still his team mates need his support. If it gets difficult he has to stand up and guide his team through it," he added.

Kickoff for the match is at 2:45 and can be watched online here.
