Alexis DeJoria on Marrying Jesse James: 'He Was Definitely the One'

Drag-racer Alexis DeJoria married Jesse James in March, creating quite a stir in the entertainment industry. Now she is speaking out about how the couple met and the fact that she knew from the first meeting that she wanted to marry James.

"I can't even tell you – we have so much in common," DeJoria told Us Weekly. "We just click. I've never had that in a man before. I've never experienced that with anyone before him, so I knew it right away. He was definitely the one. It has been amazing."

The pair met at a race in Dallas, Texas. DeJoria was racing and James was already friends with her father. That's when the two were introduced and, DeJoria said, "hit it off. He has never missed a race since. I think I wanted to marry him the first day. It's just like marrying your best friend. It's perfect."

Of course, James and DeJoria were not the only two in the relationship; she has a daughter from a former relationship and James has three children from previous marriages. The kids, DeJoria said, were on-board with the relationship and have merged well together.

"Our daughters [Bella and Sunny] are the same age, and they just click. They are like two peas in a pod. It's the cutest thing ever. [Bella] has always wanted a sister… so it just worked out perfectly," the new stepmom said.

While James works on his own projects, he often helps DeJoria with her speedsters.

"He really understands it," DeJoria said. "He wants to get in there and get his hands dirty and work… He's in there cleaning parts, welding on the car… He's very, very active in my profession, and it's awesome."

Adventure has always been the name-of-the-game for DeJoria, who initially chose to follow in her father's footsteps and work in the hair industry. However, she decided it wasn't for her and moved on to drag racing, where she found her niche. She is currently in her second year of professional racing and has no intention of slowing down.
