Alyssa Milano at 40: Surprise Prom-Themed Party

Alyssa Milano has celebrated her 40th birthday with friends and family at a surprise birthday party this week.

The "Charmed" star's husband David Bugliari planned the fete at West Hollywood's The London on Friday, according to Us Weekly.

"It's prom-themed because Alyssa didn't have a prom and hers would have been in the 1990's," one insider told the magazine.

"Everybody dressed up and everyone got a corsage when they walked in," the source added.

In attendance were friends of the child star including Ludacris, Ken Jeong, and Brian Grazer. Guests enjoyed the musical styling of DJ Vivacious-Lee and were able pose prom-style in several photo booths.

"Everybody had a great time," another source told Us. "Alyssa was really surprised. She had no clue!"

Meanwhile, Milano's actual birthday is not until Wednesday.

Bugliari and the actress have been married since 2009 and share one son, Milo.

A frequent Twitter user, Milano often updates her fans about her 15-month-old son.

"My baby really like[s] to say the word 'happy,'" wrote the actress. "If he only knew how truly happy it makes me to hear him say it. Or… maybe he does know."

Furthermore, Milano voiced her reaction to the deadly school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut via Twitter earlier this week.

"My heart and soul aches for the parents of those babies lost and for the babies that have to somehow heal & overcome… Hold each other," posted the founder of Touch sports apparel.

"~GROUPHUG~Get in," Milano added.

Milano is best known for her role as Samantha Micelli on the '80's sitcom "Who's The Boss?" Most recently, the actress has appeared on the television series "Young Justice" and will star on the upcoming series "Mistresses."
