The 27-year-old former child star characteristically took to social networking site Twitter Thursday where she responded to reports that her parents, Lynn and Rick, are desperate for their daughter to get professional help. Bynes has been behaving erratically in recent months, raising questions about her mental health.

"I don't speak to my parents anymore, they don't talk to reporters on my behalf. Don't believe anything you read about me unless I tweet it," Bynes tweeted April 11.

In recent months Bynes has has drastically altered her appearance various times; she has also allegedly been spotted acting strangely during several random solo outings; she has been photographed publicly smoking unknown substances; and she has had several driving mishaps and faces ongoing legal woes.

During one solo outing, Bynes was spotted at Equinox gym where she appeared to be dazed and out of it, according to The New York Daily News. She reportedly began talking to herself, and onlookers witnessed her asking and answering her own questions.

Bynes' parents are reportedly urging the former Nickelodeon star to move back to her native California where they would be able to keep a close eye on her. Bynes abruptly moved to New York City approximately six months ago, and some believe that her behavior may simply be a cry for help, according to TMZ.com.

It was claimed Monday that Bynes was kicked out of a gymnastics class due to odd behavior. She immediately denied the reports.

"She showed up in fishnets and a leotard that looked like lingerie ... She immediately started acting strangely. She lined up with the other gymnasts, and each took their turn to perform a roll. But Amanda just walked out on the mat, was spinning around in circles and mumbling to herself," an unnamed source told The New York Post's Page Six.

"Later, when the others were performing cartwheels, Amanda did a cartwheel, but her wig fell off, and she sat down and cried," the source continued.

The report also claims Bynes was eventually asked to leave after continuing to "mutter to herself" and disrupting others as they tried to perform exercises. This prompted threats of a lawsuit from the troubled actress.

"I'm suing every blog saying I was kicked out of gymnastics. What is wrong w/ u people? What would u do if u found fake stories about u?" an irate Bynes tweeted.

Another angry tweet accused "blogs" of saying "I have erratic behavior when I do NOTHING wrong. There's NOTHING with my life, other than you putting up awful candid photo after photo. I'm working out, it's hard getting in shape with an eating disorder."
