Amazon Kindle Fire Release Date: Hulu Plus Added to Roster of Applications

Amazon has announced that Hulu Plus was added to the list of impressive Kindle Fire applications.

Hulu Plus offers access to recent and classic TV Shows from ABC, Comedy Central, the CW, Fox, NBC, MTV, VH1 and others with a monthly subscription rate of $7.99. The app includes some advertising but the retailer say ads will be limited. Some shows offered on the tablet app include "Modern Family" and "Glee."

Amazon is in competition with Barnes & Noble's NOOK tablet. Amazon's model is attempting to outdo B&N's model in the streaming media department as the app roster for Kindle Fire includes ESPN ScoreCenter (a sports tracking software), Netflix and Pandora.

The Amazon Kindle Fire begins shipping on Nov. 15. Android models inspired the new touch screen tablet. However, the retailer's new device emphasizes fast web surfing with new Silk browsers, multimedia chops and stellar e-reading.

The compact device has a 1024 x 600 resolution with a bright, color-rich display. Amazon has nicknamed the glass on the touch screen to "gorilla glass." Users reportedly can feel free to drop their tablet into a bag on the fly sans case without fear of scratches.

Apps like Hulu Plus and Netflix will be available for download via the Amazon Appstore for Android through a 1-click payment system for paid apps.

The retailer will be offering a premium app for free download each day to Kindle Fire owners. Amazon reportedly worked out the technical kinks and assure prospective buyers that the custom interface will work in unison with the underlying Gingerbread operating system.

Users who purchase apps purchased on the Kindle Fire through the Amazon Appstore for Android have the option to download apps on other Android-based devices.

Kindle Fire users will not be able to access Hulu Plus in Google's official download store.
