American Airlines: Alec Baldwin Booted Off Flight For Being 'Extremely Rude'

American Airlines released a statement today regarding actor Alec Baldwin being removed from a New York-bound flight for playing the Facebook game Words With Friends.

The statement said that after a flight attendant asked the actor to turn off his cell phone while the plane prepared for departure, which is standard procedure for all domestic flights, Baldwin stormed into a lavatory with his phone, slamming the door shut so hard that "the cockpit crew heard it and became alarmed."

When they asked the flight crew to check on the situation, the airline said that Baldwin was "extremely rude to the crew, calling them inappropriate names and using offensive language."

Baldwin tweeted about the incident yesterday, saying he had been booted from the flight for playing the Facebook game Words With Friends while waiting for the plane to take off from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

He continually bashed the airline and crew in a series of tweets before shutting down his Twitter account.

"Flight attendant on American reamed me out 4 playing WORDS W FRIENDS while we sat at the gate, not moving. #nowonderamericaairisbankrupt," Baldwin tweeted

"Now, as I was kicked off this flight, the word I was playing was UNITED," he ranted.

Other passengers onboard also began to tweet about this situation.

"On an AA flight at LAX. Alec Baldwin removed from the plane. We had to go back to the gate. Terrible that everyone had to wait," tweeted Michael J. Wolf.

Even after Baldwin was booked on a later American Airlines flight, he continued to rant about the incident.

"Now on the 3 o'clock American flight. The flight attendants already look.....smarter," Baldwin tweeted.

Many took to the website to comment on the ridiculousness of Baldwin's behavior.

"Alec Baldwin showing progress," tweeted John Kincade. "He used to verbally abuse 12-year-old girls on cell phones. Now he has moved on to female flight attendants."

Koretta Gray tweeted, "Apparently Alec Baldwin has found something worth fighting for @WordsWFriends. I wish I had that much fervor about an issue affecting me."
